Girl Guides and Girl Scouts

The founder of Girl Guides is Agnes Baden-Powell, who is the sister of the founder of Boy Scouts, Robert Baden-Powell. When Boy Scouts really caught on girls showed interest in joining, Robert asked Agnes to start a Scout-like program for girls.

Juliette Gordon Low founded Girl Guides/Girl Scouts in America.

Juliette Gordon Low had hearing problems. Due to improper treatment of ear infections as a girl, she lost most of the hearing in one ear. During her wedding, a piece of rice became lodged in her ear causing her to lose all the hearing in the other ear.

Juliette also had a back injury which kept her from riding horses, one of her favorite activities.

She died in 1927 from breast cancer which had metastasized (spread to other parts of her body).

She used her deafness to benefit Girl Scouting. She recruited many local society matrons to get involved with Girl Scouting in Savannah. If a potential recruit tried to object, she simply didn't hear it . . . and that was that!

"Kookaburra" was written by an Australian teacher, Marion Sinclair, who was working with the Girl Guide Unit at her school. The song was entered into a competition run by the Girl Guides Association of Victoria.

Asking a girl how old she is, is old, when your asking her out. Why it is, is because a girl doesnt want the answer to be old, they like staying young... You should not that often ask a girl how old she is, it makes her feel like she isn't perfect. (most girls think that they are perfect) Be very careful about how you use your words also. Boys act smart!!!!!

Cookie booths are a good place to make lots of sales if they are in a place with lots of traffic. Be sure to ask everyone who walks by if they would like to buy some Girl Scout cookies and be polite, even if they say 'no'. If they say they already bought cookies, say "Thank you for supporting Girl Scouts."

Pay attention to the customers. You aren't going to make any sales if you do not catch their attention or make eye contact.

Be sure to keep going back to good customers each year. Many of them will increase their orders if they know you will keep coming back.

There are two scouting organizations in Italy.

The uniforms for all levels of the Corpo Nazionale Giovani Esploratori ed Esploratrici Italiani (CNGEI) appear to consist of green shirts and caps with scarves/neckerchiefs of various colors and designs.

I've seen troops that have as many as 50 scouts, but only 15% participate. You should have said most scouts with the highest percentage who are present.
