I have a golden retriever and have done lots of research on the breed. Here are some things I have discovered.

muzzle- very powerful

eyes- dark brown, large eye sockets

ears- hound like

neck- medium sized but long

coat- water repellent, can be straight or wavy

tail- thick and muscalar

feet- webbed, sensable

Golden Retrievers are prone to hip or elbow dysplasia, and congenital eye defects, such as cataracts. It is important to see that both parents are certified free of these problems (OFA and CERF certification). Parents should also be free of heart problems, and Von Willenbrand disease (a clotting/bleeding disorder). They can also be prone to skin allergies.

So far my 8 week old puppy looks like a black lab with possibly long hair on the ears. I saw one litter with both black and brown pups, but 6 of the 11 of this litter were all black, with features of the lab.

I think that they are able to have many. It would depends on the age she started. And how old she lives. That's just MYopinnion is.

It depends, as with any purebreed, on whether you're buying a show dog quality canine or simply one to keep at home. (In which case may I suggest a golden retriever mix? Purebreeds are so inbred that they always have a lot of physical problems. )

In a litter of, say, five, you've got: the runt (smallest, usually thought to be of a weaker immune system); the dog chosen by the studs owners as part of the stud fee (the stud is the father, the bitch is the mother. You will most likely be buying from the bitch/ mom's family. The stud owner gets first pick.); now there are three pups left. One, maybe - but rarely- two might be show quality. The show quality dogs are obviously going to be more expensive.

It's hard for me to give you a price without knowing where you live. That's one factor that goes into price. If you live in or near, say, NYC, you've got NY, NJ, Connecticut, etc to choose from. This could make the price lower. In general, you'll be spending a few hundred dollars.

By the way, do your homework! Golden retrievers are a medium/large dog with a lot of energy. Make sure you've got the time and space to help your dog work off the energy.

Check out your breeder. If you're getting a show dog, check out the papers as you will be required to show them at each show.

Check your local animal shelter. Consider giving a good and caring home to a shelter dog - perhaps they have retriever/something else cross breeds. I know the shelter will have adorable pups no matter what the lineage may be.

Chocolate contains substance known as theobromine that is difficult for dogs and other non-human animals to metabolized. I can be fatal to dogs, cats, horses, ferrets, bird and other pets, according to the Ontario Canada, SPCA.

The dog or animal should be induced to vomit because the theobromine in chocolate is toxic to some animals even though it is safe for human consumption.

The dog or other pet should then be rushed to the vet because the theobromine and other stimulants in chocolate can induce a fatal heart arrhythmia in some non-human animals. The dog may or may not need to have its stomach pump, but a vet needs to make that determination.

Cooking chocolate is the most toxic, followed by dark chocolate, followed by milk and white chocolate

Any living organism can get cancer. It does seem to plague the breed though.

I think they usually live for about 12 years to 14 years at the latest. 14 is getting up there, though.

Most dogs go into heat twice a year. If you don't plan to breed her, you should get her fixed. Not only will it help her temperment and prevent unwanted puppies, but it will save you the trouble of wrestling a doggie diaper on her every other hour.

The Golden Retriever breed was first bred as a hunting dog that would be more active and stronger compared to the existing Retrievers then. The breeding happened on early 1800's in the land of Lord Tweedmouth in Guisachan Estate, Scotland.

They are very beautiful dogs. They look just like a golden retriever, but have a little chow in them. They have the same size as a golden retriever. They have a little bit wrinkled face like a chow, they are very beautiful dogs.

Well, a Golden Retriever can grow to be a little over 3.5ft. A Black Lab can grow about the same height, but a lab I believe would weigh a little lighter than a Retriever would. A mix of a Black Lab and a Golden Retriever would grow to be about 3.5 ft. tall and weigh about 100 lbs. Please comment if you disagree, thanks!(:

That Would Depend On Where You Go To Get One

If I were you, I would research different places to adopt and buy one and then see how much they cost. Check out Adopt-a-Pet. Check your local Animal Shelter. Check the Animal Shelters of neighboring cities. They are certain to have golden retrievers that have been rescued, and they have centers in many cities throughout the US. Ordinarily, the cost of vaccinating, neutering and licensing is all that is required. I hope you find the right one if you are wanting to adopt!

Because God made different breeds of dogs to make it so there was more fun and choices with dogs! :D

My understanding is that humans are responsible for most if not all the different breeds of dogs. People intentionally bred dogs to get the traits they wanted.

If dogs were allowed to roam free and mate as they please, dogs would eventually all look very much alike.

they may be good guard dogs sometimes

Generally, no. They may bark at a strange noise outside but as far as attacking a burglar, not going to happen. They probably would help him out a window after robbing you.
