Are 10 million pixels good?

Depending on what you use it for is one matter. A 10 million pixel (10 megapixiel)camera takes great quality photos. My 3.2 mega-pixel phone camera is great for taking photos with and viewing on the phone and sometimes even on a computer screen, but it is just not good enough for expanding the photo and printing, but on the other hand a 10 mega-pixel camera is great for taking picture's, expanding them and printing them. So yes, 10 million pixels are good.

Can you buy a crap laptop but install a graphic card to make it good?

Yes and I'll tell you exactly how to do it.

Acer is the best brand to do it cheaply.

You need to find a broken, budget machine. You can get one around 50$. If you do research by looking at pictures of motherboards, you can tell which are based on the same case and can use much better motherboards with standard MXM 2.1 type II graphics. The ODM model is useful to know, because it applies to the entire case and every model it is based off of, but on Ebay they aren't often listed like this.

I did it with an Acer 5315. I bought a 5720g motherboard and it can run a 9600m GT ddr3. I had to cut holes in the case for some ports and buy the graphics heatsink. The ODM model here is ICL50, and there are in fact more which use the same case such as ICW50, the AMD version, ICL70 is the 17" case for the same motherboard layout.

You really have to know what you're doing needless to say.

Its in fact easier for high end models, and you have more options for cards and less work to do, but then you are investing a lot more money. the Alienware m15x can be found with i3 CPU, Nvidia gt 240m and upgraded to AMD 6990m. The first step however after being a very good technician is really knowing the market and what is worth it.

Its certainly more interesting but much more difficult to mess with other rare brands and models like Acers. There are a few out there like the 8735g which use the same interface as the AMD 6970m etc and could potentially be upgraded a lot. Theres also a few gateways, like the nv73, nv74, nv78 series, but these are not necessarily upgradeable unless you know that they have a dedicated card already.

Clevo/ Sager laptops are meant to be upgraded, but you'll still have to pay a lot for one. Do research on anything before buying.

The best laptops around to upgrade are the MSI gx640, gt640 etc if you can find one for cheap.

But you said crap laptop. Yes the only way is to find broken Acer machines, cheap motherboards etc. At this point you are basically going into the repairing trade and might as well learn board level repair.

Can someone suggest a good graphics card for Intel D915GAV motherboard is it ddr typre or ddr2 type i am confused. or can i use any pci express x16 video card?

Yes you can use x16 PCI Express video cards on your D915GAV motherboard. I've the same motherboard & I'm using Nvidia GeForce 7300GT PCI Express. You can install all types of latest PCI Expresses on it. Here are the names of some great PCI Express graphics cards of Nvidia: Nvidia Geforce 9800GTX Nvidia Geforce 8800GTX Nvidia Geforce 7800GTX These PCI Express graphics Cards are great for playing games! I suggest you to buy Nvidia Geforce 8800GTX Nvidia Geforce 9800GTX is the greatest PCI Express but it is very costly. If your budget is limited then you can buy Nvidia Geforce 7800GTX Please dont try Nvidia Geforce 6 series PCI Express: it is very old. It supports DDR1 type RAM not DDR2 type RAM. Best of luck.

What are the advantages of having a graphics card in a computer?

Depends on the use. If the computer is being used for gaming, a graphics card is almost required. If it is just being used for word processing or web searching, then a present graphics card may not be needed.

Why would a computer recognize an agp card as a pci card?

Because it most likely is. AGP, stands for Accelerated Graphics Processor (loosely) If you can put a modem in that slot it would most likely be PCI.

The card must be PCI. AGP and PCI cards are physically different. The connections to the motherboard are not identical or interchangeable. The PCI card is located more to the back of the case or board, while the AGP card slots are away from the edge and noticeably more towards the center of the motherboard.

---

This is a common issue for AGP graphics cards if you are using an ATI chipset (for example: Radeon), or an ASUS chipset (for example: x800). Though I have not yet found the solution for this error, it does not seem to cause any major issues for Windows XP systems, so long as you maintain your Windows Updates.

It is also common for ATI / ASUS AGP graphics cards to report "echoes" - a PCI card that is "also installed" from your AGP socket. If this is the case, there may be issues with your motherboard or BIOS reporting incorrectly. Seek your computer manufacturer for technical assistance if this is the case.

What is the best 256MB 4X AGP graphics card?

There is no 4X AGP Graphics card that has 256MB but only 128MB that's called the Nvidia Geforce4 Ti4600

Using GMA is a great way to help computer to be built without a separate graphics card and have it included when manufactured this will then reduce cost, power consumption and noise.
