In 1990 Saddam Hussein had the capability to control how much of the world's oil?

Roughly 10% of the world's known oil reserves. Saddam controlled Iraq, an oil rich nation. Iran holds another large portion.

If we truly wanted energy independence we would use the largest reserves known to man. The Green Valley reserve which covers Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico holds far more oil then the entire middle east. We know that 4 trillion barrels alone are in this reserve. We have another reserve in the United States that covers North Dakota which, while not as large has more oil then all the middle east also.

The issue is twofold though. One the left extreme wants us to leave the land natural and the right would rather use the cheaper oil in the Middle East. If we really wanted energy independence, this oil would be used as we speak.

Which is better T80 vs M1A2 Abrams?

M1A2 Hands down, the T80 is okay on cross country but the Abrams has much more advanced fire control systems, armaments, suspension system, armor, Superior off road performance, and the ability to fire on the move. (Correction: The T-80 has the ability to fire on the move as well. And has more potent armament. The 2A46 is 8% more powerful being a 125mm vs the M256 120mm, definitely a small difference but it makes the answerer's claim incorrect. The T-80 also has gun launched ATGMs which vastly out range 120mm rounds from the L/44 M256. Both T-80 and Abrams use Torsion bar suspension, however the Abrams weighs much more and has grown heavier over time, the suspension has not changed to reflect this. It should be considered at risk of becoming a weakness.)

How many troops total where involved in the Desert storm war?

Over 900,000 coalition military members were deployed to Desert Storm.

What could Saddam Hussein had done better to win the 1990-1991 Gulf War?

The simple answer would be not to have attempted an invasion of Iran in September of 1980. This resulted in a costly war between the two, which lasted for eight years, cost both countries vast amounts of money and resources, and left the Iraqi military reeling from losses which it was a long way from recovering from in 1990.

This would also have alleviated the reason Saddam launched an invasion of Kuwait, which in turn could've prevented both the Persian Gulf war and the ongoing war in Iraq.

Are you considered a veteran if you are a discharged reservist who served on active duty during the Persian Gulf war?

The VA reserves the right to administer their programs on what they consider appropiate US military conflicts. Often times they can be VERY SPECIFIC; they will want to know, specifically, which Gulf War (which conflict/which Operation): 1. Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988); the US was involved with this war: the USS Stark was struck by an Iraqi missile, killing many US Sailors. The USS Vincennes shot down an airliner. 2. Operation Desert Storm (January and February 1991). 3. Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003- )
