How can you tell if pine is kiln-dried?

Kiln dried Pine will be much lighter and show no signs of any sap or sap leakage. Sometimes will have a more "whitish" tint to the wood, not as yellow as non kiln dried, but that is not always the case. Some studs will actually be stamped as so. Other than that, youll have to trust the word of the lumber yard or mill worker(s). Always ask 2 or 3 and also ask for the person who knows the most about wood, cant hurt.

Types of horse food?

* Forage feed - necessary for the horse's digestion and should make up at least half, preferably all, of a horse's daily intake of food. Forage feed includes grass and hay. * Bran - is easily digested and provided wet in the form of a bran it proves a useful laxative. * Chaff - adds bulk to food and prevents the horse from bolting down its food too fast. * Molichaff or Mollichop - is a mixture of chaff and molasses, used to add bulk to the food and the molasses make it more appetising. * Barley - should be boiled or soaked for at least 2 hours before feeding as it swells when wet. This is done to prevent it swelling once in the horse's stomach, causing problems. It can be fed dry if rolled and crushed first. It is nutritious and is good for a horse or pony in poor condition or during winter. * Linseed - is a food high in protein and only a handful should be fed with a feed. It is poisonous raw and must be cooked first. It is useful for horses or ponies over the winter as it helps maintain condition and can aid fattening. It also promotes a good coat and skin. * Oats - are nutrious and easily digested if fed crushed, rolled or cooked. Oats are a high energy (or "heating") food and the excessive feeding of oats can cause excessive exhuberance in some horses and ponies. * Maize - should be flaked and cooked to make it easier to digest. It is useful for fattening a horse or pony but should not be fed to horses doing strenuous exercise as it stays in the stomach for a long time. It is also a high energy food. * Root Vegetables - carrots, turnips, swedes, beetroot and parsnips can be fed in small quantities and although apples and carrots are usually relished the others may not appeal to all horses or ponies. Vegetables should be cut into strips, rather than round pieces as these can become lodged in the throat. * Fruit - apples are relished by all horses. * Cod Liver Oil - is a useful supplement to help build up resistence to disease. * Eggs - are a good source of protein and one or two fed daily can be useful to a horse in hard work. * Seaweed - is particularly good for young horses. * Salt - can be fed in small quantities in the feed or provided by a salt block. Salt helps to aid digestion. * Horse or Pony Nuts or Mixes - are specially prepared foods comprising many of the basic feeds and there are different types designed to meet the nutritional needs of a varied selection of horses and ponies with differing exercising routines. These are extremely useful as they are convenient, ensure a good balance of all foods are provided and avoid the need to store several different types of feed. from equine website for horses

What do hamster eat?

Contributors have said:

Seeds and pellets are the dry food, which is a must for every hamster. They are found in Hamster mix, or as Budgie food (yes, you can feed hamsters the Budgie food as well).

Lettuce is harmful for the hamster's kidney and digestive system. Hamsters should be kept away from lettuce, even if they love it.

In their natural habitat hamsters eat a range of grasses, wind-blown seeds and grain. Hamsters are often mistaken as herbivores, but they are omnivores and do need protein in their diet to keep them healthy. Left alone in the wild, they will find grubs and insects to supplement their diet. The bulk of their diet is cereals and other hard foods which are chewed and digested slowly. This slow eating would make them easy targets in the wild, so they would normally bring their food back to their burrow to eat it in the safety of their own home. This also allows them to hoard spare food, in case it becomes difficult to find at a later date.

They have continuously-growing teeth which is why they need to gnaw hard material which helps wear down their teeth.

Hamsters need feeding every day. As they are nocturnal an evening feed is better for them. They will normally wake at feeding time and will be happy to play with you once they have been fed. A good quality, heavy, earthenware food bowl is essential to keep the food dry and clean. Plastic should be avoided as hamsters will chew it. Their bowls must be cleaned after every use. Do not give foods that contain whole oats as these can puncture hamsters' delicate cheek pouches.

Too much green food will cause diarrhea as a hamster's natural habitat is in dry deserts. If you feed your hamster human food, remember to avoid foods that are high in calories, sugary or contain too much fat. To help keep your hamster's teeth healthy, you need to provide lots of hay and perhaps a gnawing block and safe twigs to chew. Some natural treats you can provide your hamster in small amounts are parsley, carrot, apple, celery, broccoli, sprouts, cauliflower, kale, spinach, peas, swede, tomatoes, banana and cucumber.

Never give sticky foods, such as boiled sweets, as they will stick to their pouches.
Hamsters can eat veg, but NO fruit. Banana is fine, no iceberg lettuce (to wet) and only give them half an inch at a time of veg !

Always have hamster mix, also called hamster muesli, (you can buy this from your local pet shop) accessible for your hamster. You can also feed it the following: § Small pieces of carrot § Dandelion leaves § Clover § Scrambled egg Too many greens are bad for your hamster, so only feed them greens in small amounts.
you can get hamster food in any pet stores . but you can also give them some dried fruits like raisins. and the really like nuts ( peanuts, walnuts, chestnuts, almonds ...etc) . my hamster likes apples sliced up!

Do hamsters like marmite?

How do you know if a snail is male or female?

You simply do not. There are no such thing as male and female snails.
All snails are hermaphrodites.

That means all snails have both male and female reproductive organs. They still need to mate with another snail in order to produce and lay eggs.

Some amateur gardener groups will try to say that snails with a brown-striped shell are girls whereas white stripes are boys. This is false - they are actually two completely different species. Therefore "snail breeders" breeding these two are creating a hybrid or mixed-species.

So the answer to your question is that you can not tell if a snail is male or female, because snails do not have male/female genders. They are all hermaphrodites.
