Is it normal for your hamster to have the hiccups?
Hamsters can get hiccups but they will just go away, like humans hiccups, to get rid of my hiccups i do a headstand and hold my breath. But obviously, a hamster cannot do that. So just give them fresh water, give them some food then it should be fine.
How long before you can give a baby dwarf hamster away?
You can touch them when they are firstborn but their mom must be at a food break. (Not recommended for those with no experience) However, you may hold them when they are two weeks old.
Does hamster need to be potty trained?
yes, to be totally frank you can. i do not know how long, but it is possible, if you try looking up the type of hamster you have and see how long it takes to train it or how intelligent it is, i am sure you could find out a average time by that. but yes it is possible and many people have done it already. there are a lot of benifits from it, so i would give it a go.
Do all hamsters live for 2 or 3 years?
Teddy bear hamsters live 3-5 years. Dwarf hamsters and Roborovski hamsters typically live 1-2 years with a maximum of 3 years.
Is it normal for a hamster to have a wet nose or is it a sign of illness?
- Older hamsters WILL get sick more often, loose hair, start to have worsening overall health. Tooth Enamel is extremely important to keep a watch on at this time in a pet hamster's life. Simple things you would expect anyone/anything in their golden years to get.
This is a tough one to answer...
- The nose Wet, Running, or Moist? Wet and Running could be a sign of an illness, careful when deciding this one. Moist is not something to worry about and start to your rip your hair out. Keep a close eye on the hamster if you suspect it just isn't taking a drink of water frequently (which could signal dehydration and later on turn into constipation if I'm not mistaken) Wet could be a sign of previously running nose or simply a drink of water. A runny nose frequently and/or infrequently visibly draining is a sign of a cold. Sniffles, stuffy nose, crusty nose are a sure sign for a cold.
- Size can play an important factor on getting better. Dwarf Hamsters are usually the smallest. The rule of thumb, dehydration is easier the smaller the body.
- Be extremely careful with this one too if the hamster has a wet tail. If not treated with a anti-biotic it will end up fatal. Wet tails come from dirty unsanitary cages, if this happens your the one to blame (not blaming you, the author of the question directly though, addressing anyone reading this)
- Another rule of thumb, water is always one of the best treatments in conjunction with any treatment being Home Remedy (a lot of problems can be cured with simple foods high in certain nutrients) or a broad spectrum anti-biotic.
- To avoid any of these you might want to feed the hamster soft fruits and vegetables, but some Alfalfa for it to chew on every now and then. Care with the fruits and vegetables though, can end up harming the little bugger if you let him eat the slice in 2 seconds. Letting a hamster devour down an apple slice runs the risk of getting pieces stuck in the food pouch. Signs of fruits stuck in the food pouch should be easily identified, simply runny eyes should set off an alarm in your head if this happens. Use a small medicine dropper to remove any food that are stuck or lodged in there. I'm not going to say where the food pouch is if you don't already know. I don't trust text on such a delicate set of instructions, use a search engine to find a body chart of the Hamster. I hope you can understand where I'm coming from on that.
- Constipation is a rough one. Easily identified by seemingly sluggish movement or a "hobble" or "the peg-leg walk". (this could be an indicator of Diarrhea too, keep an eye. Constipation is fairly common in hamster and can simply be cured with Water and a Baby carrot eaten slowly but surely.
- If it ends up as Diarrhea, don't feed it fruits or vegetables. Things high in carbohydrates (Traditional Oats, avoid feeding bread) will help.
There isn't much else I know about hamsters, sorry, but ill tell you one thing. If you want to make sure the hamster doesn't get sick is don't let it wolf down hand fed foods. Clean cage everyday IF they hamster was recently/is sick or had a bowel problem. Germs and different parasites just love to gnaw on your hamster if the cage after an illness is left unattended. Also be sure to wash your hands before and after touching your hamster or hamster cage. One of the main reasons for the little guy catching any Bacteria or Viral Infection is from Human contact. Humans are/can be literally one of the most germ infested unsanitary creatures on the planet. You say you shower everyday? So do I, but never stops us from touching things and putting our hands in places when they really should not be.

Do hamsters learn from there parents?
They do but it takes awhile for them to adjust to who they have taking care of them, it takes around 5 days before you can take them out of their cages when you first get them, for my hamster we adjusted and new I was his owner, after atleast 5 days of taking him out of his cage once a day, but wait until 5 days after u get him first, and on the fifth day where u can take them out, wait a day first.
How does music affects hamsters in sleep?
I have had no problems with playing music when my hamsters sleep, as long as it is quiet. If you notice that they are having disturbed sleep, particularly when you are playing music, maybe stop :)
What is the average age that hamsters die?
The average lifespan of a hamster is 3 years and this is the most common age for one to die. It is rare to hear of a hammy living any longer then this, but if they do good for the owner and the care he/shes given.
Separate the genders, like boys in one box or cage and girls in the other, or they will start having babies with their siblings. Also remove boy babies from their mom at three and a half weeks or mom may become pregnant with one of her kids!! Gross!
Can you give a hamster a full carrot?
yes u can u can chop them up into small pieces so that they can nibble on them and if the carrots are not gone the next day then throw them in the trash and give them more but only give them about half of a carrot a day or a whole carrot but not to much

it depends on how gentle your hampster is.if it's gentle and not active then i would say yes.but if it is active then the cage would might break and then that would count as a no.
I'm not quite sure of what all they can eat, it would be a good decision to check with your local pet store, but be careful that whatever you feed it is tiny. I once fed mine one of those small carrots and the stupid thing chocked on it!
What does it mean when your chihuahua is losing hair?

The ASPCA puts out a list of what is toxic to specific animals. For a hamster, daffodils are very toxic. A wild animal will inheritly know what not to eat, but a hamster is a domesticated animal. A vase of daffodils or getting into the bulbs will cut his life short.

How do you know pasta is cooked?
Depending on if you have whole wheat or just white spaghetti it takes about 7 minutes from boiling to get a spaghetti noodle el dente. You should also taste-test your noodles when you feel that they are almost done- they should be soft 99% through but in the center just a little bit chewy.
Throw it at the wall! if it sticks, it's done. Or taste. But the first way is much funner.
You test the doneness of spaghetti by lifting a strand out of the water (using a fork or tongs, please), hold in in the air for a few seconds to cool enough to touch. Some people will bite into the strand, other cut it with the fork or a knife. Doneness depends on individual taste; when you bite or cut it and there is the tiniest dot of uncooked center, that's done al dente; if you prefer in softer, wait until there's no uncooked core. When it reaches the doneness you like, immediately drain it so that it won't cook any further. You can mix a dash of oil through the strained pasta to prevent sticking.
Why has my hamster got a bald patch?
That really depends where the bald patch is. Its normal for most hamsters to have a bald patch behind their ears. If its somewhere else on their body its likely that its caused from stress. You can get hamsters at most pet stores but i would prefer getting a hamster at a local breeder for most hamsters in pet stores are bad stock most of the time. Sometimes you would have no choice but to get one at a pet store. That's alright though for hamsters in pet stores can still make great pets. Just look for the small mammals or rodents section (;
You can buy a hampster at most pet stores like petsmart or petco or small pet stores in your area. You could also try looking online like on cragslist for people that are trying to get rid of hampsters. One other place you can look is at a local shelter but not all of them take in small animals like hampsters but it wouldn't hurt to call and ask. The last place I can think of is trying to find a hampster breeder online.
Can a hamsters cage be put outside in the summer?
No it isn't. Leaving a hamster outside in a draught can be fatal.
Maybe in Summer you could get away with it but fall, winter and spring is too risky. Mind you if you really wanted to in Spring you could have the hamster outside but only if it had a lot of bedding to keep it warm just incase but overall i wouldn't recommend leaving a hamster outside in any condition, it's better off inside where you know it is safe and warm.
Can you hold or touch baby hamsters before their eyes are open?
If you want it to have the chances of being eaten or abandoned, go ahead.
