How long must you practice before you can become a doctor?

I think you might be confused about what it means to "practice medicine." In order to become a doctor (in the U.S.) you usually go to college for 4 year and receive a bachelors degree in pre-med. Then you go to medical school for another 4 years and then you must pass a final test, similar to the BAR exam for lawyers but on medical things (i don't remember what the test is called). After you pass that test, you receice a medical doctorate and are officially a doctor. After than you must do an internship, afterwhich you become a resident and then an attending. After than you can specialize in a particular feild of medicine.
