Add a pinch of chili powder and salt before bringing the milk down to a slow simmer until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and stir in 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Pure chocolate comes from Cocoa beans...a typical chocolate bar will also have sugar, milk (if it's milk chocolate, not if it's dark), cocoa butter, lecithin, flavorings (like vanilla) , sometimes vegetable oil, and a few minor ingredients for texture.
