How do you superimpose a digital photo onto another digital photo?
in photoshop and digital imaging its called compositing - put each photo on a different layer, move and resize them till they are positioned correctly, and then use the blending modes or opacity contols to "superimpose" them - you can also cut (or erase) parts of the top image you dont want then drop whats left on the photo below - actually there are dozens of ways to composite photos and it could take a book just to describe them all, but these ideas are just a couple simple ways to do it to get you started

go to 'customize' then 'units setup' to see the options. because autodesk has taken over 3ds max im assuming like auto cad the default, even when set to unitless is in inches. this is because autocad it was programmed in the states.
First, I would think of all the possible images/words I could use to make this particular logo. Also it is important to keep the design simple and clean. This will attract more people, because it would look more professional.
I would recommend Adobe Illustrator, because it is specifically design to perform pieces like logos.

It all depends on the project. Raster images are resolution dependent, you loose quality if you enlarge the image. Vector graphics maintain image quality when enlarged and are best suited for logos, or any design that will be reproduced in different sizes.
