What are merchant couplings used for?
To protected pipe thread. Do not use as a pipe coupling. Thread don't taper and the wall is to thin and could crack.
How you calculate the capacity of cement silo?
Dear Friend, calculate the volume of the silo ie., nothing but the capacity you required.
What is NPT thread in engineering industries?
National Pipe Tap, the angled self sealing thread of a pipe fitting
What was the purpose for the Aswan Dam?
The Aswan high dam is the dam located on the Nile River. It was built to help keep it contained. When it was being built , the dam backed up and created Lake Nasser, located near Cairo, a city in Egypt.
What is the formula for finding the volume of steel in a steel pipe?
Subtract the area of the I.D. of the pipe from the O.D. and multiply the result by the length. (I.D. and O.D. are inside and outside diameter respectively)
What is a resistance decade box?
Resistance decade box is nothing but Resistance bank. It has various ranges of Resistance value ranging from few ohms to few mega ohms. In other terms, large value of resistance are fabricated in single box is said to be Resistance decade box.
What is the working principle of steam jet ejector?
it is not based on bunoullies theorem it is based on mach number.when sonic speed of steam converted to supersonic steam by nozzle vacuum is created.
What is the difference between a technician and electrician?
The technologists design, and draft the electrical network from the ground to each outlet. The technician and the artisan are the same. They install and repair the electricity in the building.
What is difference of SS 304 to SS 316 in terms of corrosion resistance?
SS304 contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel. SS316 contains 16% chromium, 10% nickel and 2% molybdenum. The "moly" is added to help resist corrosion to chlorides (like sea water and de-icing salts) .
How does limestone coke and iron ore get into the blast furnace?
through the top of the blast furnace
What is the difference between seamless and non-seamless pipes?
Non-seemless pipe is rolled from a flat piece of metal and welded lengthways to form the piping. Seemless pipe is extruded and has no seems and is generally stronger.
CPH also frequently called HCP - is Close Packed Hexagonal (or hexagonal close packed). It is an arrangement of atoms in a crystal structure.
It can mean quite a few other things, one of which is the IATA code for Copenhagen airport.

When the induction motor working as induction generator?
An induction motor connected to an existing ac supply normally runs at less than the synchronous speed by an amount described as the 'slip' which is proportional to the torque demanded at the shaft.
If the same motor is instead coupled to an engine and driven at a speed higher than the synchronous speed, with negative slip, power then travels back into the ac supply and the motor has become a generator. The amount of power produced depends on the speed.
However a normal induction motor will not behave as a stand-alone ac generator.
For ac power generation synchronous generators are invariably used because it is necessary to set and maintain the frequency of the supply accurately.
What is step up and step down?
Usually refers to a transformer. A step up transformer increases the voltage and a step down decreases the voltage by an amount proportional to the ratio of the windings between Primary and Secondary. A 1:2 ratio is a step up and doubles the voltage. A 2:1 would be a step down and halve the voltage.
Can you assign temperature to a vacuum?
Answer Yes, you can. I think the answer is no. A physical object in a vacuum can have some energy/heat in it, and the energy associated with electromagnetic radiation can have energy/heat associated with it, but the vacuum itself cannot. ______________________________________________________________________ There is no such thing as a vacuum.
On this temperature scale water boils at 100 degrees?
There are three main temperature scales in use: degrees Celsius, degrees Fahrenheit, and Kelvin. Of these three, the boiling point of water at STP is 100 degrees Celsius.
When should you drill a pilot hole?
A pilot hole can be to help direct a screw in situations where alignment is important. Most commonly it is used to ease the process of fastening the screw and reducing potential damage to threads in the process.
Yes, Mild steel has a property of malleability, it completely depends on its chemistry. If you have an option to choose the chemical composition, you must choose lower carbon, Manganese content.
Explain the scope and visibility of variables in c plus plus function?
If you define a variable inside of your function, the variable can be referred and used only inside of that function. It means that you will not able to use the variable in another function (including main). Area of code where your variable can be used after declaration is usually called visibility of the variable.
Why do you use simple and compound machines?
We use machines because it saves us time doing it ourself, and if we use machines it will save us time XD
How do you select hydraulic actuator?
pump selection requires many factors like the flow rate requirements, speed , pressure, cost ,maintenance, performance, reliability. step1: find out what type of actuator your are going to use depending on the type of loading .cylinder type actuator or a rotary type actuator like a hydraulic motor.
step2: find out the flow rate requirements depending upon the distance through which the load is to be moved in a specified time limit.
step3: find out the pressure requirements depending upon the magnitude of the load and the size of the actuator.now along with the flow rate you can find the power requirement of the pump and select the prime mover do drive the pump.
step4:find out the speed of the pump and along with flow rate calculations determine the pump size.
step5: gear ,vane and piston are the types of pump available for the fluid power applications.there are many subtypes available for these pumps.
gear pump= 500-3000 psi,1200-2500 rpm,efficiency 80-90 ,flow capacity 1-200 gpm
vane pump=1000-2000 psi,speed 1200-1800 rpm, efficiency 80-95, flow capacity 1-80gpm
piston pump=2000-12000 psi, speed 1200-3000 rpm, efficiency 85-98,flow capacity 1-200 gpm.
apart from these determine the power losses etc.,
