There is no microprocessor with !t of address memory, only virtual memory. the firt one was the 80486.

The clock speed, architectural design, and socket types are different between these three types of processor. Making the transition to dual pipeline architecture and integrated cache happened during this as well.

In essence, these processors are basically nothing alike. They look different, behave different, perform different, and handle internal functions differently.

Many heatsink and fan kits are compatible with both Intel and AMD sockets. Check the specifications carefully, though.

Modern Intel chips (since at least 1990) support a flat memory model, if the OS so chooses to use it. Practically all modern OSes use that memory mode, as a flat model is simpler to deal with in software than a segmented model.

Long answer: The Intel Atom processor is a very low-power, low-performance processor intended for netbooks that don't run processor-intensive programs. AutoCAD is one of the most processor-heavy programs on the planet, with even some dual-core processors suffering severe performance lag. For AutoCAD, I would recommend at least a high-end dual-core (upwards of a 2.6 GHz clock speed), like the Intel Core i3 or AMD Athlon II X2.

The original Intel Celeron processor was not as popular as expected because it lacked the level 2 cache to help reduce the price of the processor. With no level 2 cache, the processor acted much slower than the competitor processors.

I'm not sure what the pinout is, but you cannot use a laptop processor in a desktop application. Most laptop processors are designed to consume less voltage and produce less heat than there desktop cousins. Only very high-end laptops use desktop processors in them, such as www.alienware.com

Yes it would, but only for games such as Minecraft or Sims 3. Battlefield 3 may run on it (on low settings), but just to be sure I would go for a Intel Core i5 2500 or 2500k.

Not possible. Every motherboard only has one CPU slot and can only hold one CPU (even though the i7's a quad-core, they're built into one piece which fits into the one slot).

Some motherboards will have the ability to overclock the FSB (Front Side Bus) and make the processor run faster. Many do not, however, and thus the Pentium III can only be run at it's rated speed.

Processor makers have moved past Gigahertz and really don't promote it as it doesn't have a direct correlation to performance.Overclockers have made Pentium 4's run at 5.2 gigahertz,but the fastest clockspeed available is 3.3GHz Intel Core i7-975 Extreme edition.The quad core version costs 1000$ just for the processor.
