What is the meat of a duck called?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Simple answer is yes.If a meat is classified as a red meat for it's concentration of myoglobin then duck meat could be classified as a red meat. A physiological term would be "slow twitch" as opposed to "fast twitch" or dark v. white meat.

The color of the meat is a result of concentration of myoglobin in the muscle. Muscle that works hard needs oxygen and myoglobin binds oxygen like hemoglobin only better. This facilitates the movement of oxygen from the blood to the muscle cells. Ducks fly so their breast meat is red, chickens run so their legs and thighs are darker than their breast meat.

Which taste better chicken or pizza?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

That depends on what your personal tastes are. Duck eggs tend to be more gamey with a stronger, slightly musky odor. What is seviche?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It is typically lime "marinated" fish or any seafood with onion, coriander ("cilantro") and chili. The acid in the citrus actually cooks the fish without heat. Local varieties can have different ingredients, as vegetables and even meat. It is often eaten with potatoes or sweet potatoes and maize (corn).

It is said to be originally from Peru, but this is disputed. It is found throughout the Pacific coast of Latin America, in local varieties. Some sources attribute the first ceviche to the Moche culture in Peru but others claim that the Spanyards brought the method with the citric fruits at the colonisation of South America.
