Are girls smarter than boys?

There is no consistent intellectual superiority seen by either gender.

However, clinical studies over the years have demonstrated a divergence in some cultures. They found that females excelled in some mental abilities, while males excelled in others. This varied widely according to the methodology used, and almost all of the conclusions have been debated.

(see the related question)

Answer
Boys = Some are smart however, some are not. Boys tend to hold back and use less of their brains than girls. Their behaviour doesn't accurately reflect what they are capable of - So I guess the smarter ones are girls.

Girls = Like boys, some are smart; some are dumb. Girls have the ability to multi-task, they tend to focus more and they tend to do better in school, this is a proven fact - more girls finish school and go to college/uni than boys.

So - Girls are more smarter than boys!

Answer
Research has shown that women and girls are smarter. The brain of women is used differently by women and they use more parts at the same time than men/boys do. This is one reason they can multi task. When the brain was compared in imaging it was found that men only show movement in one section of the brain at a time while women light up in several sections.

Answer
I dont think there is evidence either way, although I think boys brains are slightely bigger.

Answer
Coming from a girl: boys are probably a lot smarter than males, when awards are handed out a lot of them are boys. men have been behind most of the worlds greatest break throughs, in every single field (Science, Medical, Technology, Literature, etc.)
Girls are officially the school brain boxes after GCSE results showed they beat boys in nearly all of the subjects.
But we are all equal in some ways

How do you know if you are smart?

there are a lot IQ tests websites on the internet

search in google and you will find some

take the test you like

What is smartness, anyway? There are so many different ways of understanding what smartness is. One meaning is simply how well you adapt to the requirements of life. So if you are tested and find out you have a genius I.Q. but can't make a living, hold a relationship together, or reach goals you set for yourself, then maybe it could be said that you aren't very smart after all. There is a book called "Emotional Intelligence" that discusses research showing that success in life is more related to emotional development and the ability to relate to people than it is to pure brain power. In another example, a guy might seem ignorant and have a low vocabulary but be the most brilliant auto mechanic around. It is important to be open and not judgmental. There are all different forms of smartness. Animals are described by scientists as being lower in intelligence than we humans, but they have amazing powers of perception in areas where we are blind and they can survive in environments that would kill us. A lot of times, we get these ideas about our smartness from our family and friends, but it may not mean that much. Ask yourself where you are smart. Most of us have some special talent of one kind or another. There is no one simple answer.

How do you measure intelligence?

Intelligence is measured by taking a professional IQ test such as the Standford-Binet.

MENSA has a Home IQ Test that can be taken in your home as the name implies. However, there is a testing fee of about $15.00. I've taken it and it is very accurate; however, the Home IQ test is not considered a professional IQ test. It provides a possible "snapshot" of ones IQ.

If you score close to around 125, MENSA will inform you that you may be smart enough to gain acceptance into MENSA. However, to gain acceptance you can either take the MENSA IQ Test that is administered several times per year. For information on when the test will be offered and test locations through your country, visit your local MENSA website.

MENSA accepts more than 200 IQ Tests and other tests where the scores can be converted into the equivalent of IQ scores.

"you can search the internet♥

You search it up on Google. There are many different ways. But bewarned, some are viruses and scams and NEVER type in your mobile because you repetedly get text messages, phone calls, chain e-mails and many more pestful problems. I, myself have done this before and fell for it, now my phone is broken so I have had to purchase a breand new mobile phone. Only ever do the test if it will SHOW you the result afterwards on the web page once it is complete.

Actually, you have no hope in hell of obtaining a genuine IQ test on the internet. Genuine IQ tests are legally only administered by trained, qualified psychologists. Anything else is fake and usually has a built in bias to make you think your IQ is much higher than it really is. They use this as a lure to get you to give them your email address or worse, money for a complete analysis that is completely made up.
Ask your school or doctor to test you I got mine at school it was 138 and I am 11
The easiest way is to try several online IQ tests.

Ideally, you would see a professional.

You could also check with Mensa -- they have exam sessions, during which you can take a certified IQ test (and even join them, provided you're in the top 2% of the population).

Is 109 good on an IQ test?

100 is the average IQ. The average for every age is 100. It is worked out based on one's peers' score. If your IQ is 109 in your teens, it is likely to be close to that score or at that score when older.

An IQ of 109 is within the average range. The average range is between 85 and 115. 68% of people fall within this range.

(This is based on an IQ worked out with a standard deviation of 15, most modern tests performed use this. The majority of professionally administered IQ tests today are the Wechsler adult intelligence scale and the Wechsler Intelligence scale for Children.)

Is an IQ of 115-120 normal for a 15 year old?

By definition, a "normal" IQ is 100. Any good IQ test is calibrated for age, education, cultural differences, language, and other variables, so a teenager with an IQ of 115-120 would be considered a little above average. On the other hand, it isn't so much what one's IQ is that matters, it's how hard one works and applies oneself that counts. There are many people with high IQs who have never amounted to much, just as there are many people with "average" IQs who have made great contributions to mankind. Illustration and Verification of the above answer: For some of those, myself included, that explains why , even though we read Faulkner & Steinbeck & Aristotle & Joyce, even though we listen to Mozart & Cash & Dylan & Pink Floyd, even though we dine rather than eat, even though we solitarily defeat 6-man teams in Trivial Pursuit, (not to mention the millions of Jeopardy bucks we woulda, coulda, shoulda won), et cetera, et cetera, et al ad nauseum, we Cashier on register 5 (Photo Counter)at the local drug store. What does an IQ of 118 indicate?

Average IQ range is 90 to 110....so you are a little above average...The average college graduate has an IQ of 115...Hope this helps...

Is 111 a good IQ?

It's easy to remember... I'm a special education teacher. Students I have worked with with IQ's below 100 generally have difficulty learning. This is a combination of actual issues with learning ability and the bad attitude that can arise due to frustration with past difficulties. An IQ of 100 and up does not seem to be an impediment to learning or success if you are motivated. Genius-level IQ is, I believe, above 130. That suggests to me that an IQ of 111 represents "normal" or "average" intelligence, so you should be able to do whatever you want in your life. Keep in mind that the IQ test only measures one kind of intelligence, logical or mathematical intelligence, because Western culture has traditionally prized that kind. However, a person with a lower IQ may have significant talents in other areas that the test does not measure, such as athletics, music, visual arts, and tending plants and animals. Recently I watched Little Richard as a celebrity judge on Celebrity Duets. He struck me as having extremely low IQ, due to his inadequate verbal skills, but he is a very successful and beloved personality who has had a very full life.

Are IQ tests really accurate and are their results a reliable indicator of one's true level of intelligence?

YesThey were designed by psychologists and educators, who studied the way mental acuity relates to the potential to learn and solve problems. They are not a measure of eventual achievement or accomplishment, because these require active effort beyond mere logical or computational ability.

Persons recording high scores on standardized IQ tests are generally those who find learning new things comparatively easy, sometimes trivially easy.

IQ tests also work on measuring how fast someone thinks and their memorization, something that is dependent on how natural it is, and how the individual's brain functions have developed. These things cannot be studied directly. Since some individuals can learn more quickly and easily, an IQ test is one way to determine how quickly and efficiently their brains work.

NoThere are a number of sociological problems that are thrown up by IQ testing. The main problem being with language - if English is not your first language or you're just no good at it, tests in English will yield a lower score.

IQ tests also only test certain thinking processes associated with intelligence, and individuals have different mental strengths and weaknesses. A low score on an IQ test does not specifically mean you are "less intelligent". For instance, a person who is highly intelligent in a non-academic field, for instance interpersonal communications or automotive maintenance, may score poorly on an IQ test because the test is based solely on performance in traditional academic subjects.

Scores on an IQ test are comparative by nature; they do not test a subject's 'true intelligence', merely their performance on the given tasks in comparison to those of the same age group. Test scores can also be affected by simple things such as a lack of sleep, or having not eaten enough that morning. IQ tests also fail to assess creativity levels.

It should also be noted that IQ test scores can vary, depending on the exact test that is taken.

Well...

I'm assuming you're referring to the Standford-Binet Intelligence-Quotient test first used in the 1960s.

It is not generally considered by mainstream modern psychology as an accurate indicator of intelligence. In fact, that lack of a satisfactory definition of "intelligence" still bedevils the discipline. Modern thought on what constitutes "intelligence" (Gardner et al.) has impacted Pedagogy significantly.

To borrow a quote, "IQ is that which IQ tests measure." It is a somewhat touching, yet uninformed, artefact that suggests the precociousness of the young discipline of Psychology; that intelligence could be defined so narrowly and accurately gauged so easily as Standford-Binet put forth is ludicrous.

However, whatever one considers "intelligence," it would, more than likely bear some positive correlation with test IQ test scores.

The definition and quantification of "intelligence" shall elude science for quite some time to come.

How can you improve concentration of mind?

Meditation is not a religious, nor spiritual practice. It is a mechanical practice that often yields a spiritual result.

This practice of emptying one's mind and paying close attention to (following) one's breathing often leaves one with a mind uncluttered, relaxed and quite present. A mind in this state finds it easier to concentrate.

What is an IQ test?

IQ stands for Intelligence Quotient, originally designed to help detect and identify people having low "intelligence" and/or learning problems so they could get special assistance. Eventually extended and recalibrated for people having high "intelligence". However "intelligence" as measured by these tests has never been clearly defined and related to any aspect of normal everyday life functioning. The only thing IQ tests have been reliably proven to measure with any consistent accuracy is one's ability to score high on IQ tests. I believe this is simply because that is how the tests are calibrated when they are designed.

The above comment written by a person that when given an IQ test in grade school, the person giving the test had never seen a score that high and thought it must be a mistake. When retested with a different test I scored even higher. I was told never to tell anyone those scores! I have learned over the years to be very skeptical of IQ tests and scores.
