Has anyone else experienced a weird iTunes 8 glitch where you can't change your country back to US if you change it to another one to see what it has to offer out of curiosity?

I had this same problem, and I just figured out the fix. I was stuck on Mexico and selecting United States again did nothing - it just left me in Mexico. Then I tried to listen to a song sample and it asked me to log in. Once I logged into my US account it told me I would be taken to the US store and all was resolved. So just log into any valid US account and you should be all set.

Someone else said: There are legal restrictions on what you can buy depending on what country you are in. Living in the US you may not realise it, but people outside of the US are not allowed to buy a lot of US content due to copyright restrictions! It's very annoying for us!

Once you have set your country, iTunes will allow you to have the content that is available to that country. Changing "out of curiousity to see what other countries have to offer" is not a good idea, since it means you are asking yourself to be placed into a different category of legal availability - something that you can't really do on a whim. Pick a country to which you have legal rights and stick to it!

Can you save your music from a CD to your music folder?

The music is stored on a CD as AIFF audio files. If a CD icon appears you can usually double click it and drag the files into your Music folder. AIFF files are relatively large and so are often converted to the MP3 format to save space. A typical song will be around 20MB (AIFF) which will be reduced to around 4MB (MP3). Free software, such as iTunes or numerous others, will recognise the CD and convert the music to MP3s, or whatever format you prefer, and help manage the Music folder.
