The Jaguar X-Type was discontinued as it failed to reach sales expectations since release, resulting in a massive loss of money for Jaguar. 350,000 of them were made within 8 years.
Hi
I recommend to you use theWSS-M97b44D dealer specifications
but you can get it in Autozone with the name:
Grey bottle
PRESTONE
GM DEX-COOL
50/50
extended life
IF YOU MIXED THE FLUIDS YOU MUST FLUSH THE SYSTEM BEFORE ADD THE NEW.
Van Dan Plas, which means an uprated interior specification originally carried out by VDP but now is just a trim upgrade at the factory.
Remove ribbed round cover on back of light assembly by turning CCW. You may need to remove a small water hose to get to 1 of the covers. Gently try to move bulb socket up and down. If it moves easily and is loose, that is the problem.
Use a small mirror to inspect the plastic adjustment parts that are inside and HIGH up. If they are not broken into pieces, maybe you can re-align the parts that push the assembly (causing the light beam to move up or down more) that fell out of place when someone turned the adjustment too much.
Those plastic parts are NOT sold unless you buy the entire headlight assembly. Some people glue them back together (GOOD LUCK) But I prefer the 5 minute FIX which is: Drill or burn with a heated flat blade screwdriver tip, 2 holes below and on the sides of the bulb connector. Insert a plastic tie strap tip end (size of about 3/16" X 12") down thru a hole from inside the assembly, then up thru the other hole and back inside. Start tightening it up with it looped over the bulb connector so that when tightened it lowers the rear end of the bulb. Be carefull not to let anything touch where it could overheat or cause a problem.
When it just begins to move the connector & the bulb base downward, (which will cause the light beam to shine higher) turn on the lights and continue gently and very slowly tightening the loop (make sure you get the slack out of the tie wrap on the bottom of the assembly) until the light beam is where you want it (about 26" to 28" high more or less) from the car. If you over tighten, cut the strap and start over.
When certain the adjustment is done, you might want to cut off some of the excess tie strap, but leave an inch or 2 just in case you need to pull on it again. Put some duct seal, silicon or other sealer on and around inside and outside the 2 holes so moisture does not get into the assembly. NOW TEST DRIVE IT. Follow these ideas at your OWN RISK. fill your clutch master cylinder with dot 3 brake fluid, keep an eye on it while u are bleeding itand dont let it empty out and get air in lines, have some one pump clutch pedal about 3 times and hold it to floor,go to the clutch slave cylinder ,its bolted on to the side of the transmission with arubber boot connected to it, open bleeder valve, make sure u have a clear hose connected at end of bleeder screw and have hose in aclear glass so u can see air come out. bleed the slave cylinder till no air comesout ,next u need tobleedthe clutch damper, its on the left side ofthe fire wall, make sure your slave cylinder is not leaking ,if it is u need anew one about 18.00.
try disconnecting the battery for 1-2 hours then re-connect and it should go off after 2 or 3 short journeys it should reset its self but dont forget your radio code
X - Type Oners Manual, page 96, ----- "a leaver, within the main beam headlight, is used to dippped beam adjustment for touring. This lever flattens the dipped beam to avoid dazzling oncoming drivers.
Open the bonet and remove the round cover from the main beam headlight.
Move the lever in the left-hand headlight DOWN and move the lever in the right-hand headlight UP, to flatten the beam for driving on the right side of the road.
Remember to place the lever back in the original position when you return to country of origin.
you would either have to buy a parrot if your phone is not the jaguar one. If you buy the proper jaguar phone it just plugs in under the arm rest.

on the front its straightforward , just remove caliper remove old pads, push back pistons then fit new pads and refit caliper, rears are harder as you need a piston rewind tool,, without one its quite difficult to do,, basically the tool pushes back the piston and turns it clockwise at the same time , this is because the handbrake uses a ratchet which has to be wound back,, hope this helps,,
According to the owners Manual, this is an indication of an alternator failure.
I have not done the job yet but this is what I am going to do. Remove plastic cover over the engine ( three screws) You then have access to the front three spark plugs ( cylinders 1,3,5) remove the nut which holds down the independent coils and remove the spark plugs, fit new spark plugs and fit coils on the three front cylinders.
Now it gets a little tricky, you will only be able to access number 2 back cylinder so you have to remove the induction manifold (12 bolts I think) to access the back three cylinders (2,3,6,) properly. Then proceed as with the front three spark plugs, refit manifold and plastic cover, job done.
Removing the inlet manifold on Jaguar X-Type
After disconnecting all the plugs and hoses to the inlet manifold (I left the throttle body on the manifold, disconnected the two small heater hoses) remove the two bolts holding the cable harness at the rear, then the single bolt just below the cable harness. This bolt is located lower and to the right hand side (looking at the engine) difficult, DON'T DROP IT)) remove the bolt securing the inlet manifold to the support bracket. (R/H side.) undo the SIX BOLTS (WARNING. These bolts are of various lengths NUMBER THEM SO THEY GO BACK CORRECTLY) remove manifold. (Make sure just tighten the first time round, once all are fitted and tightened then torque them down)
It is advised to change the upper inlet manifold gaskets, there are SIX of them.
To change the Plugs at the front it is necessary to remove the air cleaner box, after removing the two bolts and bracket at top remove the air filter, you will see two screws inside the bottom of the box, remove these, then pull the box in an upward direction.
Refitting is a reversal
Inlet Manifold Bolts. Tighten to 10nm
Check the back of your rear view mirror.
They would fit on the newer xj's, after 2003. But wouldn't fit on the older ones, XJ8 (x308) or XJ6 (300). The older xj's stud pattern is 5X120.65, while the newer, including the x type and s type, jags are 5X108. The older jags are hard cars to find mags for, as standard euro 5 studs are 5X120, not 5X120.65, and will not fit on a jag.
The best way is to use a code scanner ( handheld computer that plugs into the car ecu)
------
The location of the ecu/ecm module is located under the hood on the passenger side (Near the area where you add freon).
A picture of the location can be found below
Checking the transmission fluid is an important part of owning a car. A person pulls out the dipstick while the car is warm, wipes it off, dips it into the car and looks at the level of the fluid on the stick.
Gear oil check usually means on the differential or standard transmission. It pretty much has the same method. there should be a plug about half way up the unit. Remove the plug, add the right oil (usually 80w/90) until it runs out. while your there, remove the plug on the bottom first and replace all the fluid with fresh oil. good luck.
You cannot do it yourself unless you have a scantool.
