I think it`s because the films have been made very well !! and everyone enjoys a good action that always has a great romance ! ;] we have to remember that this movie has been going on for almost 50 years so all the dying fans it has will start in that generation. So that is why i think James Bond is such a loved movie !!

It wasn't poker that they were playing - it was Gin Rummy at the start of the film that Goldfinger was playing - and it wasn't against Bond. Bond exploited the fact that he was cheating and blackmailed him into losing.

Later on, Goldfinger played Bond in a game of golf, and cheated again by using a different ball. Bond once again exploited that and won a recovered Nazi Gold bar.
