Well, it's always up for different interpretation, but for me the main idea of the movie was highlighting the selfishness of humanity while also showing a compassionate side to humanity. Initially, the main character Jake intended to go to Pandora and get "in" with the Na'vi so he could persuade them to leave their Home Tree (selfish humanity)... but as he spent more time with them in his avatar body, he realized the purity of their customs and how in tune they are with all aspects of nature. They live as one with the world, and this changed Jake's heart.

The only quality this movie brings is its technology in visuals. The story is nothing but cowboys and Indians all over again. Modern man steals and rapes from religious, primitive natives that worship the planet.

Tone in film refers to the feeling and or atmosphere of the film towards the audience. where as mood refers to the feeling or atmosphere that the audience feels towards the film.

So in other words a film that is ominous or gloomy would be the tone of the film, and a film that makes the audience feel tense or anxious would be the mood of the film.

The stories are not related in any way, nor are James and Julia Cameron related.

The chilling soundtrack for Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 movie Psycho was composed by Bernard Herrmann, an American film composer. Herrmann also composed the music for other iconic movies such as Citizen Kane and Taxi Driver.

The indigenous race to the moon Pandora are called the Na'vi, which means "the people."

In Hebrew the word means "prophet" which is to give the impression that this race has "divine wisdom".

Note the significance of the name chosen for the planet as well.

The movie actually shows the Earth people as totally idiotic and unable to use the technology that they have. If the Earth people were really interested in "destroying" the Na'vi (and were as ruthless as claimed), they could have just dropped an asteroid on the site of the "Unobtainium" and mined the devastated area with no resistance.

Given the cloning technology they could have appeared as the "gods" of the natives and had them give the metal as a donation.

They could also have dug the mine from the side with no conflict involved whatsoever.

The final scene (that was not shown) should have been a meeting at Earth Headquarters in which the Earth leaders discuss the fact that the plan was a success and that the natives have now been given the push needed to start them on the way to reaching space. When they finally reach space, they would be convinced that the "Earth people" had died out because of the lack of "unobtainium" and that the people that they do meet are friendly and would be able to act as their peers. They would also have learned the lesson required to create a civilization while maintaining proper control and avoiding some of the possible mistakes. Having had an outside enemy, they would be more likely to stay unified.

Note the name for the magic metal was chosen to hint that it did not really exist.

It has been announced that the DVD/Blu-Ray release will be between June and August 2010. The first release will in 2D, most likely with a deleted scenes section or an extended version. A later release will be in 3D but no time frame has been announced yet.

Jake Sully, is a wheelchair bound soldier, with shaved, dark brown hair. He has broad shoulders and big head, which also holds a big nose and ears. As a Avatar however, he is able to move his leg, using them to sprint and jump 2x the power of any normal human being. With still his facial expressions, Jake turns from a nobody into a somebody. His long, blue legs and striped body allow him to escape predators grasps and his long black pony tail connects to that of the local animals, making a bond!

The movie was released on December 18, 2009. When a movie is a success it can stay in theaters for awhile, sometimes 12 or more weeks. Occasionally checking advanced local listings can provide insight on when a movie might be ending in an area.

It's the same as the TV series. About a boy, who is that last of his kind. He has to stop a war. While many people try to stop (aka Kill) him. He makes friends along the way, and of course it has a happy ending.

i called the theater to ask the same question. you don't have to wear the glasses however if you don't you'll notice just a bit of a blurred picture. plus it costs you more to see it in 3d because of the glasses so for young children who might find the glasses hard to keep on your best to see it without 3d. we're going tomorrow ;)
