Why does Jeep recommend to change the spark plugs on a 2005 Jeep Liberty at only 30000 miles?
30,000 miles is recommended for spark plug replacement on all Chrysler/Jeep vehicles, not just the Jeep Liberty. Not only are plugs recommended at 30,000 miles, shock absorbers are recommended as well. As a mechanic for the Chrysler/Jeep Corp., i can say with confidence that it is not entirely necessary to change plugs and shocks at the 30k mile mark. Basically, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" (however, i do recommend at least checking the plugs at 30,000 miles)
Can the check engine light on a 2005 Jeep Liberty be turned off?
I would try disconnecting the battery....that may reset the computer chip.
Where is the gas filter on Jeep Liberty?
the Jeep Liberty gas filter is inside the fuel tank. It is not meant to be changed at any regular service interval. It is possible to change it, but requires alot of hassling around. From what I remember, the fuel tank is reached by going through the rear deck panel. Refer to jeepforum.com in the Jeep Liberty section of the forum.
Lots of possibilities, switch, actuator, connectors, relay... Unfortunately you'll just need to get a wiring diagram and go through the whole troubleshooting process. You can usually get a little help from the dealer, but don't expect them to spend much time with you. Usually it's just copying some pages out of the shop manual, and even then they only do that for you if you're nice to them. Good luck. ==Expanded Answer== A wiring diagram is nice to have but not necessary as it does not genrally tell you HOW to troubleshoot. The key is knowing what the components are, what they look like, and how they work and interact with each other. A wiring diagram does not do that, and EVEN SERVICE MANUALs are sometimes inadequate in providing photos or sketches allowing one to know what he's looking for and where it may be located. I guess they assume that the user already knows all the basics. You said that the "fuse is okay." You did not say HOW you determined that. Fuses can be deceiving when VISUALLY trying to acertain whether they are good or bad. Some fuses which are open [will not carry current] can look perfectly normal. This occurence is not especially common, but it does happen. Visual determination really only works to CONFIRM a "blown" fuse, which by the way indicates that a short circuit occured [that's what causes fuses to blow], AND SUGGESTS a potentially serious fire hazard problem. Do NOT ever replace a blown fuse without first troubleshooting the affected circuit for the source of the short which caused the fuse to blow. Then CORRECT the fault BEFORE replacing the fuse. And NEVER use tin foil, or a "jumper" in place of the fuse, or an "oversized" fuse. All of these "cheaters" will probably result in overheating of the wiring, and a fire! To truly confirm that a fuse is good is to check it for continuity with a METER, or with a battery powered TEST LIGHT. If the meter, set for Ohms, indicates current flow [NOT a zero reading], or if a powered test light turns on, THEN the fuse can be concluded to be good. If either or both of these show the fuse to be open, even though it "looks good," it is NOT good! Also, you used the singular term, "...a power lock...that does not work..." I cannot tell from your question if you mean the power lock "system" which is singular, even though there are two door lock assemblies, or if you mean ONE of the two door locks is not working. That distinction makes a big difference in the analysis of the failure. IF BOTH of the door locks are not working [assuming a KNOWN good fuse], then that condition suggests an OPEN circuit[for example, a connector pulled apart]between the fuse and the master switch cluster(usually on the driver's door), or a defective master switch assembly]. If, however, one door lock is working, and one is not, that condition suggests the problem is in the master switch for that door, or the wiring harness, or the actuator, or the acutator ground connection. You do not necessarily need a wiring diagram, IF you understand enough to identify the parts described above, and to "trace" the wiring/harness from point to point looking for a cut, "parted," or burned component. Basically, with any such system, the wires run from the fuse block to the master switch cluster[wherever it is], and then to the doors having the power lock acutators. Troubleshooting means visually checking for obvious failures, and using some test equipment and elimination procedures to identify the fault. It is not really that difficult, but neither is it easy. And, it is certainly tedious and possibly time consuming!

The 2004 Jeep Liberty has a "lifetime" fuel filter built into the fuel delivery module. This is located inside the fuel tank. The filter itself is not servicable. If you suspect a plugged filter, the entire module, which also contains the pump and level sender, will need to be replaced.

How do you retrieve spare tire on a Jeep Liberty without the 'key'?
My sister bought a used Liberty and had the same issue- not in dire straights, but looking to that possibility in the future (actually NEEDING the spare with a lock and no key). I tried using ViseGrips to no avail- the lock's material is simply too hard to allow the visegrips to get a bite. SO, here's the answer: Find an open-end wrench that is only SLIGHTLY smaller than the outside diameter of the lock. I can't remember what size we used, but it's pretty large, maybe 15/16, something like that. Cover the back end of the Liberty with a large dropcloth or towels. You might even wet them down (keep reading). Take a small handheld grinder and grind two flat spots on the wheel lock that correspond with the jaws on your open end wrench. Take your time, compare often, and viola- it's off. Of course you have to have the tools, or know someone who does, but it's not as daunting as it may sound. Good luck.
I had this problem as well. All it took was a trip to the dealership and about $35 to have the lock replaced.
AnsswerI also had this problem, but i used a small pipe wrench.I took mine to a tire store, the guy used an impound drill and took it off for $5. I also heard you could hammer a cheap socket into the key until you get enough bite to pull it off. I've never tried it though. $5 bucks was worth the trouble.
Piece of cake...just take a 3/4 inch combination wrench and tap the round end over the nut with a hammer. Once it grabs sufficiently just twist off. When done, tap the lock out of the wrench and it will be still sound to use again...if you want to cough up the 35 bucks at the dealership at your leisure for a new key...or replace with a standard lug nut. Try this before reaching for the dremel.
