The religion of the Dome of the Rock is Islam. It is the area where the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ascended in to heaven and also where he was taken to pray with previous prophets. The Dome of the Rock is not to be confused with Masjid-Al-Aqsa as a lot of media portrays it to be. There is much controversy about the reasoning for this that predates thousands of years in history. The Masjid-Al-Aqsa is built on the previous Temple of Solomon. It is believed that the Prophet Soloman (Suleyman) buried several devil-worshiping books that included writing about black magic and states outside the human body. It is believed that the books were a source of power. This is the reason for the confusion. Making people think that the Dome of the Rock is Masjid-Al-Aqsa will shift the media attention away from the real Masjid-Al-Aqsa. The reason for this, is believed to be so they can gain access to the books that the Prophet Solomon (Suleyman) had buried to protect the people from the evil of the writing. Don't believe me about the media turning attention away from the real Masjid-Al-Aqsa? Type 'Masjid-Al-Aqsa' on Google Images and you'll find the majority of pictures are of the Dome of the Rock. There is much evidence that the Israeli government, has started 'construction' around the Mosque which could be a way of disguising the real actions of finding the buried books.

What happened to most of the residents of Jerusalem after the city was taken by the Christians?
Assuming this is talking about the Crusades (as opposed to General Allenby's conquest of Palestine for the British Empire), the Crusaders slaughtered most of the population in the city. Their intent was to kill all of the Muslims and Jews in the city. Since they often were unable to tell whether a person was a Muslim or Jew on one hand or an Eastern Christian on the other, they butchered everyone with the phrase "let God sort them out", meaning that when the Christians were killed in "friendly fire" that they would go to heaven anyway -- so no real loss. Crusaders have remarked in their diaries and letters that the streets were so choked in blood that the horses were wading in it up to their ankles and the stench of rotting flesh was atrocious.

On the ArcGis map, once you have Jerusalem on its screen, click the "Basemap" box on the top of the page to see various features you can click to overlay. Note that the elevation levels are not visible on all of the map's size-scales; see which scale works best.
On the Topomapper map, click the various circles on the right side of the page to get differing overlays. Note that the topographical overlay shows elevation bars but has places labeled in Russian words, so you'll want to see the place names in one of the non-topographical modes first.
