Keep it positive. Any strengths should be those that directly apply to the job (typing, writing, organizational skills, interpersonal skills). Keep "weakness" to things like "need to be a perfectionist" or that you procrastinate when it comes to filing (NO ONE LIKES FILING!) but that you've learned to overcome this by carving out a certain amount of time each morning to get filing done. Again, keep it positive. If you describe ANY weaknesses, also give an example of how you overcame it or how you plan to overcome it! ~ T

How should you answer a 'salary requirements' question on a job application?

I always put "will discuss". That way, you're not taking a lower salary than you should get and you're not too demanding in you answer either. You could say: competitive rate. Avoiding a specific figure is a good idea since it may be outside of the pay range that they are offering so it may cut you out of the running. "While only a market base salary is expected, it is anticpated that will grow based on my performance". I interview folks on a daily basis. Answer every question on the application and leave that one blank. The interviewer will bring up the question; how much money are you looking for? That will be the time to negotiate considering you meet the minimum qualifications and they are interested in you.

Answerwell if the job is in sales you should say something like 'i would probably talk to the customer too much, i hope that's not a problem i just really enjoy people.' You need to reverse the pschology of the situation, eg: What is something the employer will need you to have in personallity that you could use as a reply that fits the example above?

What kind of degree do you need to be an CEO?

You either get to be CEO by starting your own company, or somebody hires you. By the time somebody seriously considers hiring you for a CEO job, it's probably been twenty or thirty years since anybody cared about whether you went to school, or what you studied, or where. By the time somebody ready to give you a CEO job, they want to know all about what you've done for other companies that you have worked for in the past. They want to talk to all of the people you have worked with. Find out what kind of leader you are. Find out how you operate. How you get things done. How you get people motivated and get them on your side.

They want to know what you tried, What kind of results you got, What worked, what didn't work, how you recovered, how quickly you recovered. They want to know how you handle delicate negotiations, how you deliver the bad news, how you deliver the good news,... This list goes on and on and on.

They'll probably ask you where you went to school, but that's because they want to know who you know, not what you know.

Can an employer refuse to allow you to fill out an application for employment?

Yes it can !

A lot of applications never make it past the first stage. Some may be poorly written, contain spelling and/or grammar mistakes, in red or blue ink (BLACK ink only !) their qualifications aren't up to the standard required...

The whole purpose of application forms, is to give the employer chance to 'weed out' the ones most suitable for further investigation.

What do you think the job you have applied for involves?

A job description is, basically, a brief amount of information on what doing your job requires and regards, or just a subtle explanation of it. For example......A person greeter at Walmart is someone who says "Welcome to Walmart!", or gives people a friendly greeting welcoming them to the store. A cart pusher at the same store would have a different job description; Basically, a cart pusher is someone who retrieves carts from outside of the store, in the parking lot of Walmart.
