You really don't need to jack up your Rover. Wait until the vehicle is cool, and remove the oil dip stick, Slide under the front of the vehicle on the passenger's side the lowest pan is the oil pan. Place an empty oil catcher under the bolt, loosen the bolt, until the oil starts to drip from the pan. then while it's cool remove the screw rather fast, not allowing it to fall into the oil drain bucket. Allow all of the oil to drip out.

While that is dripping, towards the front of the vehicle same side as the oil the filter is attached to the bottom of the front of the engine. you should see it as your sliding under the front of the vehicle. Loosen the filter with a fliter wrench, now go back and place the bolt back in the oil pan, it should be finished. Then slide your oli catcher under the filter, because it will leak oil.

With the new filter place some of the old oil around the rubber ring on the oil filter, and slowly screw it back on being carful not to cross thread it. tighten it up with your hand and a slight turn with the filter wrench, try not to put a dent in it.

Then your finished with draining your oil. The you want to fill your new oil up about 6 quarts will do for now and then start your vehicle up let it run for a bit to fill up the filter then shut it down. Check the level and top it off the the correct height, and your finished. Remember to recycle your oil. Hope that helps. Should take you about 20 mins or less.

Yes, its located in the back of the stereo. Depending on the year and model of your Land Rover. In my 99 discovery 1 to remove the radio you need a number 9 tamper-proof torx precision driver. insert the driver into the holes on either side and turn about 10 turns anticlockwise. ( these screws DO NOT come out of the radio DO NOT FORCE THEM!)

This is located at the top of the brake pedal, it is a twist fit and a cheap if awkward DIY repair. Don't forge to unplug the wiring plug first.

Our 2003 Discovery came with 255 55 R18. Stay away from Goodyear's HP series. CHEAP tires that wear out quickly and COST A LOT. Shame on Goodyear for putting these tires out. We have only 27,000 on these tires and after rotating them on a normal basis the front two are gone. Check out reviews. NOT GOOD!

These instructions work also for the 1998 Land Rover Discovery. Just like the last guy said, you need to first depressure the fuel system, by first opening the hood, and pulling the fuse for the fuel system. Then start the truck, and wait for it die from fuel starvation. Next disconnect the NEGATIVE battery cable from the battery.

If hands are nimble or small enough, you don't have to remove the tire, but I suggest you get a working light, so you can see what you're doing. OK, remove the filter strap, and the gently pull the filter towards you. A new filter is about $10 at Advance Auto Parts. The generic one works just fine.

MAKE SURE you are not near any ignition sources BEFORE you open the fuel lines. And get a large shop towel or something like that to catch the extra fuel that's left over in the lines, and old filters.

You'll need two open ended wrenches to properly remove the fuel line from the filter. Don't cheat and try to muscle it. You'll regret it. Just twist the two wrenches gently, but firmly once you're locked onto the ends, and break the torque. Once you get it off, take a look at the new filter. The arrow on the filter body should point towards the front of the truck. Put everything back the way you found it, and Viola!!

The last thing to do of course is check for leaks. Once you connect the battery again, just turn the vehicle to the ignition position, and listen for the fuel pump to pressure up the lines. Now take a look at the fuel filter connections, to see if you are leaking fuel. If it's dry then you're done. Take it for a spin, contribute to the forum if you learn something new about the Discovery 1 and pass it forward. Cheers...

There is no replaceable fuel filter for the discovery II, does have a sock like filter attached at the intake on the fuel pump.

Hand tools as suggested by the name are hand powered. Power tools all have a motor, usually electric.

Use a gap-less plug. That's is, one that doesn't need to be gapped. Such as bosch platinum.

Not the Freelander 1, but the 2007- freelander 2,s have an above reliablity score meaning they are reliable. If your going to buy the first gen freelander you should be prepared for issues! Hope this helps.

disconnect the battery with the lights on and then press the horn for 5 seconds.

This will erase the codes in the chip.

Then reconnect the battery and the service light should be off.

It is an air suspension system. That's why you can find what fluid to put int in. Unless you are referring to the a.c.e.System in witch case it takes land rover active cornering enhancement fluid only!

Try PUSHING the buttons either side of seat top ...on mine they looked like you had to lift them.... my German shepherds worked it out for me, as soon as I told them to stay in the back. (Im taking it that you refer to seats 3,4&5....not the side seats in lugage area.

It sounds like a bad universal joint to me. The same thing happened to me last summer but its an easy fix...less than $200. (8D

Land Rover is the manufacturer. Range Rover is the model. They also have a Discovery, Freelander, Defender, LR2, LR3, LR4, Range Rover Sport & Discovery 2 model. All of them made by Land Rover. They have other models not sold in the US as well.

Have alternator checked. There should also be other signs like lossing power to certain things or dim lights, if so...might be the alternator.

The fuel pump is an integrated assembly (fuel pump+sending unit) located inside the gas tank. By the way, the 2000 Land Rover Discovery also has a fuel pump relay. This particular relay is a common problem in Land Rovers, and normally goes bad much sooner than the fuel pump. So in case you have not checked it out, it might be worth considering the fuel pump relay (which usually costs less than $20) before replacing the fuel pump assembly (labor-intensive, and expensive - usually around $400 for a brand new, OEM unit). The fuel pump relay is a small square-shaped part, yellow in color, with 4 terminals.

The crankshaft sensor is located at the back of the engine (4.0), and just above the bellhousing for the transmission. It is on the drivers side, and i believe it has a yellow cover on it. i may not be remembering it correctly, but it seems like its yellow.
