How do you replace a rear door lock actuator in a 2003 land rover discovery ii?

With the front you need to remove the window frame to access the actuator. 5 bolts for the front window. 4 on all 4 corners of the frame and one directly in the middle. You might have to rip some of the plastic, use a box knife so you can tape it back up. After you remove the frame the actuator will be 100% easier to replace, you can actually see what you're doing. Also, the bolts are different sizes, do NOT THINK they can be interchanged. Long bolts go back where they came from, same with the short bolts. Good luck!

ADD: Forgot to mention. Pull the frame slowly off the window, then lower the window a bit with your hand supporting it. There will be two screws holding the window to the regulator, unscrew them and lift the window out. Find a nice patch of grass to lay the window. When you put it back together remember, window in fist, bolt it in! Then, slide the frame over the window and tighten it down.

Remember, roll your window all the way down with the door open. The black frame around the window. Yes you must remove the torx bolts to get the frame AND the actuator out, you can run to Lowe's and pick up the torx bits for cheap. Once the interior panel is removed there is no other metal frame just plastic wrap. It's hard to imagine but once you get frame and window out it will create A LOT more room to access the actuator. Oh, be VERY careful not to bend your window regulator rolling it up and down when the window is out, learn from my mistakes! One more thing, don't unplug your battery, you'll need to roll you window up and down to access the window regulator bolts.

My 1997 land rover discovery won't come out of park what can i try?

You can try unscrewing the gear lever case putting some oil in there and try to losen it.

Additionally: FIRST Check to assure that brake lamps are working when the pedal is pressed. If not, replace the brake lamp fuse or repair the problem with the brake lamp switch. For Safety the brake lamp switch is tied into a shift lock on most modern autos preventing the auto being placed into gear unless the brakes are applied.

I need some help with my land rover Discovery series II 2001, the car is run fine, but one day, I stop on a red light and the engine turn off, I was able to start the engine back on, but later the same day I had the same problem. What is the exclamation point on Land Rover dash?

If it is orange it is the traction control light, if it flickers the traction control is working, if it stays on you have a fault in the system and most likely also a fault in the ABS.

If it is red it may be the warning light for transmission overheat, this comes on with the hand brake to remind you not to leave the car idling too long.

Most likely because its spark plugs are shut. Second best, ignition wires need to be replaced. Third best, injectors are full of carbon.

Why won't the heater fan work on a 1992-3 Land Rover Discovery. It occasionally works when the slide lever is waggled. It started by cutting out on the No 1 setting and progressed upwards over time.?

There is a resistor in the motor that controls the different speeds. If it works on full but not on the lower settings the resistor is burnt out.(very common)

If the fan isn't working at all it may be the brushes on the motor. Mine were sticking in the slider but not worn out, and tweaking the spring that presses them on to the commutator fixed the problem (intermittent running or not working at all)

This is a beast of a job as it entails removing the entire fascia/dashboard to get access to the fan unit. It is a full days task so don't rush into it lightly!

Where do you put the power steering fluid in a rover 200?

As you look into the engine bay, the reservoir is on the left hand side. About halfway up.

How do you put Land Rover in 4 wheel drive?

Most Land Rovers are FULL-TIME 4x4. Earlier Series Land Rovers (before they were named Defenders) were not. You either had to depress a yellow knob to engage high range 4x4 or pull a red lever to engage low range (this automatically engaged 4x4, assuming your front hubs are locked).

On post Series Land Rovers you have the option of locking the center differential. Series cars did not have a center differential as they weren't full-time 4x4s. Some Discovery 2 models, earlier versions, did not have this as they relied on traction control.

There are some rumors that a 4x2 land rover might get produced, this also happened with the Series landrovers. These will/were not able to go 4x4 as they lack the required mechanical parts.

How do you remove fuel pump on land rover discovery?

Assuming you have a V8 petrol, it is in the fuel tank.

Open the rear door and remove the black plastic strip the covers the carpet in the door jam.

Pull up the carpet

Undo the screws holding the black plate in the centre of the cargo floor.

You are now looking at the top of the tank, undo the wiring loom and fuel lines.

Unscrew the large plastic nut that holds the pump housing in, this may require a screwdriver and hammer to loosen the nut initially.

Pull up the pump housing, this has the pump in it.

Where to fill transmission fluid in land rover discovery series II?

Raise your vehicle, remove the oil fill plug and metal washer in the transmission pan,(located in the front of the pan) Fill with fluid until it runs out of the oil fill plug hole. Replace (quickly) the oil fill plug and snug it up. Lower the vehicle, then apply your emergency brake, depress your brake pedal.

Then start the vehicle, let it idle. engage your shifter into reverse,(remember, keep your foot on the brake while doing this!) then neutral, then drive, then 1,2,3. Do this a couple of times, (this circulates the fluid into the torque converter and every where else it needs to go).

Okay, then raise the vehicle, (while the engine is still running) remove the fill plug again, and fill it up again until about a 2 millimeter stream of fluid runs out of the oil fill plug hole. Quickly replace the oil plug again and this time, tighten it up for good.

You are good to go!!!!
