When Land Rovers were first built they were made my Rover, then British Leyland before being bought by British Aerospace. They then changed hands to BMW and then to Ford. In June 2008, Ford sold its Jaguar and Land Rover operations to Tata Motors, who currently own Land Rover.

if it is a K series engine as I imagine it will be the torque setting is, in 3 stages,first 15lbft/20Nm , second mark bolt heads and turn all half turn (180 degrees) third and then half turn again. Looking into the engine from the front of the car, left is the timing belt end, back row is nearest the windscreen then the tightening sequence is back row left to right 9,5,1,3,7 front row left to right 10,6,2,4,8

If it's a Discovery3, you can reset this by turning the key back and forth to position 2 three times in a row. (without starting it.)

The Land Rover Freelander's have a 2.5 liter V6, 24 valve, direct injection, water cooled, transverse mounted engine. All Freelander year model's previous and including 2003 have air assisted direct injection. From the front of the vehicle, the engine has two cylinder banks: the left bank and the right bank. The left bank contains cylinders 1, 3, and 5 while the right bank contains cylinders 2, 4, and 6. The firing order of the cylinders is 1-6-5-4-3-2.

Press and hold down the "mode" button until the radio beeps, then enter the code. I can't remember if you have to press "mode" again after entering the code or not, but i don't think so.

If you don't know the code to your radio you will have to go into a L.R. dealership and they can tell it to you.

There are pages and pages of theings that can turn the check engine ligth on, you need to have it checked for codes. Another way to look at it, there is only ONE reason for the check engine light to come on, that being, the computer has detected a problem. You don't NECESSARILY need to HAVE it checked, since you can do that yourself. Go to just about any auto parts retailer where you can borrow, rent our buy an engine code scanner. Some of the more helpful places will even help you plug it in and decide what it means if they aren't terribly busy, and if you can drive the vehicle to their parking lot. But in general, you'll need to use a code scanner to find out why the computer has turned on the light. It's just the computer's way of saying, "HEY! YOU... BEHIND THE WHEEL THERE! PAY ATTENTION TO ME!"

Not being an automotive engineer, I can't say for certain, but aluminum has some very useful properties:

1. It does not rust beyond the outermost molecular layer, so water will not significantly weaken it.

2. It is very lightweight, important for gas mileage and such, especially with something as big as a land rover.

3. Unlike steel, it retains most of its strength even at freezing temperatures. At normal room temperature, steel is (by some measures) over 20 times stronger than aluminum. However, it quickly becomes more brittle as it chills, and will, at 0c, actually break more easily than an equivalent piece of aluminum. The aluminum also weakens as it chills, but much more gradually. Its effective strength at room temperature may not be much, but it's nearly the same at 0c. So you need more aluminum (and/or a stronger configuration) to hold up at room temperature, but you don't have to worry about it breaking in the cold.

(A lesson well illustrated by the WWII-era "Liberty Ships." Steel cargo ships which worked very well until they were brought through the chill temperatures of the northern Atlantic... at which point they snapped in half, one after another.)

4. It is also cheap, plentiful, easily molded, and readily recycled - all potential reasons to choose it over, say, carbon composite (which is also lightweight, strong, and rust-resistant).

5. It's shiny, or can be made so. People like shiny things.

I think it is also to do with availability. When the first Land Rovers were produced, just post WW2, there was lots of recycled aluminium around, from scrapped war planes. They were also, initially, an agricultural vehicle, so designed to have a long working life. This then became tradition at L/R, to have a lot of aluminium panels on their vehicles.

The cylinder head torque settings for a Land Rover 300 DTI starts at 40Nm for all bolts. Then for M10 x 117 mm long 60 degrees, M12 x 100 mm long 60 degrees.

up to 125 mph-or 145 mph < HELL NO!, you will be lucky to get 80kph in 4th, get a splitter to get another 20kph ontop of that, when your going top speed and down hill, you may even go upto 120kph, but the driveshaft will be free spinning from the engine giving the sound of a Turbo prop engine going off.

The maximum tosing capacity of the 2008 Land-Rover LR2 is 3500 lbs..

The 1997 Land Rover Discovery (Series One / Series I) uses a coil pack that is mounted above the engine at the rear, towards the bulkhead/firewall. Each spark plug is directly connected to a single coil of the coil pack, and thus does not use a distributor.

One can purchase Land Rover Discovery wheels from a number of retailers. One can buy them used or new from eBay or one can purchase from JC Whitney and Car ID.

Sort of… Vehicles over 25 years old can be imported into the US without problems, but see below for state issues. These means a 1983 110 is doable but not a 1990 D90. Vehicles less than 25 years old must be imported by a Registered Importer (RI) and this normally requires expensive modifications to comply with NHTSA requirements and must be on the NHSTA's "LIST OF NONCONFORMING MOTOR VEHICLES THAT ARE ELIGIBLE FOR IMPORTATION"< http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/elig010807.pdf>This means at least some 1993 D110s and some 1997 D90s within a certain VIN range can be brought into the US, but some possible expensive modifications will be required to comply with safety rules for example Having the vehicle meet NHSTA requirements is just one step, you must also meet federal and or local emission rules and this can sometimes require further expensive modifications. If you miss either part of this you will have to either re-export the truck or have it scrapped, you will not be allowed to get it off the docks You still need to find a vehicle with a VIN within the rages indicated and have a RI to import the vehicle and still have to jump through the EPA hoops For California and possibly other states you have another set of hurdles for registering any vehicles built after 1975 - it must go to a licensed lab and be modified to meet emissions regulations for the appropriate year at often very substantial cost There have been some vehicles imported outside these rules as kits or as "rebuilds" of older Series trucks using nothing but the VIN plate, all of which are illegal and will cost you the truck if you get caught. DO NOT DO THIS; the Feds are on to most of these schemes, and there have been some recent seizures of imports from unsuspecting owners - the importer, of course has taken the money and disappeared.
