The choice comes down to personal preferences, but it really doesn't matter which year it was. If God had wanted us to know, then the Holy Spirit would have had it recorded for us - He hasn't, so it's unimportant. What is important are the consequences of Jesus Christ's atoning death for all, either one way or the other.
