Is 20 mg of lexapro considered a high dose?

It is usually recommended to start out at a small dose (5mg) for about a week or so....then bump it up to 10mg if you tolerated 5mg. Some can handle 20mg, some can't. It all depends on your body, but bottom line, it is best to start small to let your body get used to it.

Can you mix ecstasy with Lexapro if you do not take Lexapro dose that day?

No you can't... both lexapro and ecstasy are dealing with the same material in your brain - seratonin. ecstasy brings it levels very high, while lexapro keeps it in a controlled level, so the ecstasy just won't work.

not taking lexapro that day is meaningless, as the drug is not effective the same day, it keeps a certain level in your blood (which is why it takes 2 weeks after starting taking lexapro to really feel the effects)

What are brain shocks?

If you have been taking Lexapro for awhile and cut back the dosage or it is towards the end of the day and you took your pill early in the morning then a brain shock can occur. For me a brain shocks is like a small zap starting in my eyes when I move them to the left or right and moving towards the center of my head. Ive been taking this med for 5 years and never look forward to quitting it, what an expensive addiction, I wish my Doc had told me how addictive it is. Be careful.

Where is generic Lexapro manufactured?

I spoke with a Canadian online pharmacy....they say it's manufactured in India and shipped out of Switerland. That doesn't make me feel very good!

Doctor put you on lexapro but im not depressed or anxious?

Some anti-depressants/anti-anxiety drugs have dual or experimental uses. It doesn't mean that your doctor thinks you've suddenly turned into a nutjob.

Most commonly they're used in conjunction with some types of painkillers, as it helps to augment the treatment in some people (although I can honestly say none of those kinds of drugs ever helped my pain meds).

Still, you should never take anything prescribed by a doctor that you don't know why he/she is giving it to you. Doctors, contrary to popular belief, don't know as much as we think and sometimes prescribe meds incorrectly. That I nearly lost my life in a hospital due to a drug screwup is my own proof. Don't find out by being dead just because you trusted a doctor's word for it. KNOW WHY THEY'RE PRESCRIBING SOMETHING FOR YOU. These people are on the Drug Companies' list - their whole careers are guided by them to make them dependent on the drugs they want them to push and prescribe to you.

Always remember what they call the guy who finishes dead last in his class in Medical School: Doctor.

Can 20 mg. lexapro and baby aspirin be taken together?

Yes, absolutely.

If you have no condition that dis-warrants the use of either these medications alone, then concomitant use will have no adverse effects.

If you would like to be 'extra' careful. Ensure you have a decent meal in your stomach before taking these medications -- and/or spacing them out over the day. Although Aspirin will not effect the bioavailability of Lexapro or vice versa.

Can lexapro withdrawal cause hives and itching in hands and feet?

I have been off Lexapro for about five months now. I had a few of the more documented side effects from stopping this drig. About 3 weeks after stopping back in March, I started getting hive attacks. My doctor was sympathetic and gave me an antihistamine perscription. I have to take it every couple of days or so to keep the attacks from coming back. I missed about a week of the antihistamine earlier this month. I woke up in the middle of the night with about half of my skin needing to be peeled off due to the hives and itching. I took the antihistamine and it went away in about an hour. I never experienced hives or any skin condition prior to the Lexapro that cause this kind of itching. I am convinced that there was some physiological or neurological damage induced by the drug.

Can Lexapro be mixed with paracetemol?

They can be combined with no known interactions. Nevertheless, it is advised that if you need to take paracetemol on a long term basis that you speak with a doctor. Lexapro and Paracetemol are both heavily processed by the liver. While Lexapro is not known to cause liver damage, Paracetemol has been known to cause liver damage over time.

If you were on Lexapro for 4 years how bad would the withdrawal symptoms be if you slowly decreased your dosage and then stopped?

Hi there.... I was diagnosed with ptsd, depression and anxiety about 10 years ago. Anxiety and nightmares being the worse problem. I took Prozac for about a week and couldn't take the severe anxiety producing side effects. I took zoloft off and on for a few years (lowest dose)and didn't have side effects when not taking it, but sexual side effects (lack of desire) and fatigue while taking even a low dose. About 3 years ago, my dr prescribed lexapro (10 mg / day). The nightmares never stopped and I didn't like my true emotions being so suppressed. Also experienced severe fatigue during the day and increasing nausea.

So, the reason for my post is to share the painful effects of lexapro withdrawal. I began lessening the dose while on vacation- a three-month planned low stress vacation at the beach at the beginning of this summer. Over about two months, I slowly increased the days between dosages. Should have probably taken less mg, by cutting the tablet, but it didn't occur to me since it was a low dose to begin with (and apparently, serious withdrawal symptoms happen either way). Even after 2 months, I couldn't get past 4 days, without screaming pain... body "shocks", migraine type "shocks", severe motion sickness from just moving my eyes, additional nausea, etc. All this time, I was under little stress, mostly taking beach walks, yoga, reading, etc

After reading all the withdrawal symptoms others were having, I realized it was going to hurt, whatever method of tapering. So, five weeks ago, to the day, I quit lexapro. After 4 days, the physical withdrawals kicked in. The first three weeks were miserable. Took supplements, hoping to ease some of the pain. Finally, the fourth week, the electric shocks started to weaken, the nausea was gone (which is great since it was a problem while taking the meds), and my nightmares became less extreme, more coherent and lucid, and are occurring with less frequency (actually the nightmares started to improve after less than a week- nightmares I hadn't been able to control for 10 years, so I definitely think the lexapro was making my nightmares much, much worse). During this fifth week, I thought the shocks were gone for a couple days, but they returned, but in a very mild form. The main problem I'm now having, is insomnia. I have been a little more tearful and hope this isn't a sign of depression returning. I'm actually enjoying the added emotion, just hope the anxiety doesn't kick in. So withdrawal is possible, but a good four weeks before the symptoms are tolerable. I will NEVER take lexapro again. If I do get anxiety and/or depression again, I will need another method, even if a homeopathic method isn't quit as effective. If anyone has any good suggestions, please share. Tx

I have been taking 20 Mg lexapro for 3 months and stopped cold-turkey what are the side effects?

I have been on Lexapro for over 3 years and stopped cold turkey. I have the 'head sparks' and have had them for 3 weeks now. It has definitely interfered with concentration which causes agitation and irritability. I have also not had one night without seriously bizarre dreams that last the entire night. Whatever it takes, it can't last forever and can't say Lexapro did anything for me but cause serious weight gain. It's easier to deal with life than to mask it with medication; I recommend getting involved in self help books.
