What should you do after taking lexapro 10mg and have constant headache?

When I started taking Lexapro I had a constant headache. My doctor told me that was a 'normal' side effect of the drug and it would subside in a few weeks. For me it took about a month to be headache free. To me it was worth it because I chose the headache over the constant sadness. I also suffer from migraines and the Lexapro headache was not debilitating like migraines so I stuck it out and the headache went away. The headache returned after I increased the dosage to 20mg and it took about 3 weeks to adjust.

What are the consequences of stopping Lexapro for two days and then starting your dosage again?

Very few. Lexapro's half-life is 27-32 hours. Meaning the last dose taken is not eliminated to that level for over a complete day. In other words if they were screening for lexapro at the hospital in your UA, they would detect it 2 days later.

On the flip side,.. the levels have dropped tremendously -- So you would probably start to feel the beginnings of discontinuation syndrome..aka "Withdrawal". Which is anything from Anxiety, agitation to 'brain zaps'.

But the ultimate advice and answer here is A) - Don't discontinue your medications if you feel 'fine'.. just because you think you don't need them anymore. (No insinuation, just for any reading this).. and

B) If you have missed a day or two of Lexapro, simply take your next scheduled dose. You will be back to "normal" in no time.

Does taking lexapro cause a vaginal bleeding?

Yes, all SSRI's have increased bleeding as a side effect. This may include excessive bruising, vaginal bleeding, GI bleeding. This is caused by the platelets who can't do their work properly because of the inhibition of the reuptake of serotonin into the platelet ( platelets need serotonin to function properly) Platelet dysfunction returns to normal after discontinuing the SSRI.

I am having already a few weeks of vaginal bleeding with the SSRI Celexa, and also a lot of bruises. Will talk to my GP soon.

How long Lexapro makes you tired thank you?

Before I answer your question, here is some background information on Lexapro for your personal reference: Lexapro is an Antidepressant and an SSRI. This drug is meant for patients who have depressive disorders, anxiety disorders or panic disorders. It is available in 5, 10, and 20mg tablets as well as in a liquid form. Some of the major side effects include: insomnia, complex sleep disorders, sweating, dry mouth, constipation, diarrhea, indigestion, abdominal pain, decreased appetite, impotence, anorgasmia in females, decreased libido, rhinitis, sinusitis, flu-like stmptoms, and anaphylaxis Alright, now to answer your question. You are probably experiencing the side effect of insomnia or complex sleep disorders. These both can be very serious to a person's health as adequate sleep is necessary to stay healthy. The onset of the drug is slow after taken, and it is likely that you only take it once or twice daily. This is because the medication works slowly and lasts several hours. This medication has its peak effect 3.5-6.5 hours after taking it, but this does not mean your side effects will only last this long. In fact, they could last all day. If this problem persists, I suggest going to see the doctor who has perscribed this medication to you to describe the side effects you may be having. This way, the doctor could help you fix the problem and may even put you on a different medication that wont produce the undesired effects. ** All of my information came from the 2008 Lippincott's Nursing Drug Guide by Amy M. What would happen if i took mushrooms and Lexapro?

I have been on Lexapro for about three months now and have been feeling great. However, the other night at my boyfriend's apartment, I took X and shrooms and while I felt great the whole night, I started to feel like crap by the end of it. It was my fault really. I didn't hydrate enough and I hadn't eaten anything so by the time morning came I was dehydrated, hungry and weak. Everytime I stood up I would blackout. I passed out twice on the floor. My boyfriend made me drink a Dr. Pepper while he got me some food and the sugar helped. Just make sure you don't miss your Lexapro dose and don't overdo it on the drugs. AND remember to hydrate and take care of yourself!

What are the symptoms of Lexapro withdrawal?

I recently quit taking Lexapro, after being on 5 mg for about 10 months. There are definite symptoms, including those listed by others bloggers. It should be noted that both scientists and doctors do not know exactly how SSRIs work, only that serotonin is responsible for mood enhancement. Recent studies have indicated that other chemicals also play a key role and we may be missing the bigger picture. In any case, I planned months in advance my weaning off of Lexapro, which required close coordination with my Neurologist. I should add that my Dr. is one of the top Neurologists in the area and is well respected. Part of the "plan" was to include L-Tryptophan (LT), a naturally amino acid. According to my Dr (and corroborated reporting that I have researched), L-Tryptophan has some of the same stimuli effects produced by Lexapro, without the side effects. Our "plan" included first reducing my dosage from 10 mg to 5 mg, and taking 500 mg of LT. Then I reduced my dosage to 5 mg, every other day, while still taking 500 mg. daily. Now I am only taking the LT. I expect that the recovery time will be challenging, as we are dealing with changing our chemical composition. It took us time to get here, so expect it to take an equal amount of time to get back to where we need to be without Lexapro. It is imperative that you have a plan with your Dr, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and have a support network. Here is a list of some of the symptoms I have experienced: *Restless nights, including bouts of heavy breathing and vivid dreams. *Tingling/burning in legs (which is one of the reasons that I began taking Lexapro in the first place). *Nausea/dizziness *Weight gain *Lack of motivation and energy. *Upset stomach (acid reflux) *Sore throat Keep your chin up and try not to think of this as a "disaster," "terrible," or "worst ever"... It is transitional and will mean that part of overcoming this to remember that our attitudes are part of the symptoms. I encourage those that have successfully weaned off of the drug to post the long-term prospectus.

What are the effects of taking the following together Lexapro with Clonazepam and alcohol and marijuana?

Ask your prescribing doctor.

Mixing either Clonazepam or Lexapro with alcohol will severely increase the effect of both medications, as well as the alcohol. Mixing Clonazepam and Lexapro will cause your respiratory and nervous system to slow down. Mixing cannabis and antidepressants is not recommended, but if you know your limits, the dangerous side effects are minimal.

Your wife takes lexapro tamazapan and axiety pills as well as BP meds She drinks a lot What are the consequences?

The temazepam, anxiety medication, and alcohol are all addictive. She needs to find a good therapist (not a psychiatrist) who specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy. This is a kind of therapy that works extremely well with anxiety and depression. You learn to get rid of the unhealthy thinking habits that cause you to be anxious and depressed, and you are taught healthy thinking habits that help your self-esteem and mental outlook. Therapy is the only cure for anxiety - medication (aka tranquilizers) only cover up the problem for a little while, and the same is true for alcohol. By depending on these drugs instead of learning how to solve the problem, she is just adding a new problem onto all the old ones making her miserable - she is headed for addiction or alcoholism! Lexapro, on the other hand, is not addictive and does not add to your problems. Lexapro is a medicine that helps the brain restore its natural chemical levels instead of remaining in the imbalance that causes depression.

Do you break out in a rash while weaning off lexapro?

Hi! Yes, I have broken out in a rash. I am 12 days off my Lexapro and so far not having Hugh withdrawal symptoms. I have an occasional dizzy spell or brain zap, but nothing too overwhelming. Last night I noticed I had a rash all over my torso. It's a little itchy and sore. I've applied some hydrocordisone cream and it seems to help a little. How long does it last, do you know?

Can being on depakote lexapro which was tapered off then wellbutrin adderall and xanax cause a miscarriage- pg was unknown and I was just starting all these meds?

If your doctor didn't tell you, you cannot have a child wile on Depakote. Not that you can't get pregnant or anything, but rather it will cause acute problems to the baby. So knowing that, I think it might be possible to cause a miscarriage?

How old can a filled prescription of lexapro be and still be safe to take?

If it wasn't precribed for you, don't take it. There are many dangerous side affects. Do a search for Lexapro. All prescription medicine should be thrown away after one year. The chemicals change and they could become more (or less) potent.

I have been on lexapro for about 2 years and havent had a period in 18 months. The doctors say it has nothing to do with the lexapro I started weaning off it about 3 weeks ago and now I'm spotting?

I have been on lexapro for almost 2 years and my periodshave been very irregular since then. Sometimes I go for 5-6 months without having one then I will have 2 in a row. Before being on lexapro my periods were very predictable I always knew exactly what day I was going to start, now I never know if I am going to or not and if I do how heavy it will be. I have also gained 30 pounds being on lexapro.
