How do you describe writing process in a personal letter to the English department about your writing skills?

When writing a personal letter to the English department about your writting (sic) skills, you need to show attention to detail such as: spelling (writing, not writting), capitalization, punctuation, etc.

For your letter, organize your thoughts into 3 or 4 major points. You could also do a creative writing piece to submit. For either one, organize your major points in one paragraph for each item, with a couple supporting arguments. If your letter//essay focuses only on the "writing process", make sure you cover the major points to good writing: outline, thesis statement, writing first draft, revision, re-draft, checking spelling and sentence structure, concluding point.

If you believe you were wrongfully terminated for a reason that could cause a major problem in finding another job what can you write under 'reason for leaving'?

This has happened to me and what i did was i always put in, scheduling conflicts. Like if you can only work X amount of hours or if they change your schedule without telling you. Just remember that by law, when calling a reference, the reference is not allowed to disclose how much you made or if you were terminated or not. Employers aren't to ask and if they do, the reference is not allowed to tell. Hope this helps.

Writing: Characters and Dialogue
Personal Writing

How can you write a dialog between a customer and a tailor?

Writing dialogue is not as hard as you're letting it seem. You have dialogue all the time -- it's called talking. If you honestly cannot think of what your characters are going to say to one another, you need to go take a break and go somewhere out in public. Sit somewhere in the middle of a crowd for one to two hours and just listen to people talking. Then, go home and write down some of the things you heard people saying. That's dialogue.

When you need to have your characters talk, just pretend it's you and a friend (or several friends), and have them say something you'd probably say in the same situation. Then imagine what your friends would say in reply, and go back and forth that way. As you become a better writer, your characters themselves will "tell" you what they want to say, because they become like real people to you.

What is a good short speech on Indian Independence Day for kids?

INDEPENDENCE DAY means a day when India gained its freedom from British rule.

India was under the British rule for 3-4 centuries. It was in 1857 that India started its independence struggle forcefully through a revolt named "The Great Revolt" against the British.

Mahatma Gandhi was the spine and brain behind the Indian independence struggle. Gandhi promoted "Nonviolence" or "Ahimsa" against the cannons and rifles of the British. His words of wisdom were followed by almost every Indian of that age, to follow nonviolence and struggle with perseverance, and the British finally manumitted India from its bondage. India's independence struggle is a huge epic on its own. Nonviolence was the weapon used to free India. That's why India, even today, doesn't want to resort to force or war unless there is some menace to the security/integrity of Indian unity.

India gained independence after nearly 200 years of British rule on 15 August 1947, and the Indian tricolor flag was unfurled by Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, on the ramparts the Red Fort of Delhi. I am proud to be an Indian.

Example of memorandum letter?

A memorandum (memo) is a short business communication, usually sent internally within an organization not requiring outside mail. No signature is necessary but most senders initial their name on the 'from' line. A standard format is:

TO: Person, title, and department or a whole department such as 'Sales Staff' or 'Maintenance Dept.'

FROM: Name of person sending memo, title, department

DATE: Very important for internal organizational business.

SUBJECT: What the memo is about, such as 'Telephone Expense', 'Equipment Training', or 'Holiday Party'.

Then you write the content of the message the same as the content of any business letter. Be sure to include any dates, places, names, etc. that are important for the recipient to know.

When do you use 'had' vs 'have'. ex I HAVE seen the movie yesterday or I HAD seen the movie yesterday?

In the example given, you should say "I saw the move yesterday." You could say "I have (I've) seen the movie already," but you wouldn't use the word yesterday with it.

Have seen is the present perfect, and had seen is the past perfect. The past perfect is used to refer to an earlier point in time than some specific past time. For example: When I watched Indiana Jones 2, I hadalready seen Indiana Jones 1. In this example, you are talking about the past (when you saw Indiana Jones 2) but want to speak about something even farther in the past. So you need to use the past perfect. Both the present perfect and the past perfect deal with already completed actions.

Scientist contribution to society is greater than the teacher?

scientists are discoverers and the inventors but their guiding guru through which they have became such a capable person is a teacher.

scientists prove their theories to the nation but teachers educate the world making them the future scientists.

without the help of a teacher, none can become a scientist. when a teacher teaches, only then you learn things which would help you to prove various theories in the future. scientists reveal things which no one else could do but knowledge lightens every space which makes everyone capable of understanding and interpreting the theories.

Where do you find a sample medical letter addressing hardship?

There are no "samples" of such correspondence. The person should write a simple letter stating the facts of his or her circumstances and the purpose for the letter.

A standard format business letter will work well for a 'medical hardship' letter:

  • First paragraph, state why you are writing, simply, in two or three sentences.
  • Second paragraph, state the 'facts' of your hardship (without emotion or run on thoughts); be concise. If there are many facts or pertinent information, consider using bullets. The second paragraph can be two paragraphs or more if the amount of information requires it.
  • Third paragraph, this is where you provide contact information such as your phone number, email address, information to contact a third party (such as doctor or other related medical persons), etc. Tell the recipient what you want them to do (don't be vague or leave them guessing). If they are not required to react or respond, simply summarize from the first paragraph and thank them.

The letter should be as simple as this outline.

How can you obtain the March-April 2007 issue of AARP magazine?

Well, they used to have links to specific issues online, but now it seems that they just have a search (see related links below to link to the publication search page). You will need to know what topic or article you are looking for to find it this way... there doesn't seem to be a way to find it by month and year. I also searched for some of the titles on the front cover of the 2007 issue, and can't seem to find them in the search, but you might be able to if you know more specifically what you are looking for.

I couldn't find a specific place to order reprints of the paper version, but you could use the contact link to ask AARP directly for a reprint, or search on eBay or Amazon to see if they have a back issue. I am including the Amazon link below, because I did find people who are selling this particular issue there.
