If you're working for a business AT the business (you're not going door-to-door, people come into your store) then you don't need one personally, though the business will probably need a vendor's license.

No, an Iowa marriage license is only valid in Iowa. You need a license valid in the location where the marriage is to take place.

There are a number of steps. First you get the license. Then the ceremony is done and the license is signed by the couple, the witnesses and the officiant. Then the license is returned to the courthouse and they will issue the marriage certificate.

(in the US) It can depend on which state you reside in. All state's laws address this in a differing fashion.
Generally, not just anyone will be authorized to perform marriages. Virtually all state laws provide that any recognized member of the clergy have authority to perform marriage. However, in some states the clergy needs to be licensed. California allows anyone to apply for authority to perform a marriage ceremony in special cases, for family or friends, and that type of authority is only good for one day. Most states allow public officials such as Justices of the Peace and judges to marry couples and some jurisdictions authorize ship captains. Usually not, I believe most (all?) state require at least a 24 hour waiting period after the issuance of the marriage license before a legal marriage can be performed (even in Las Vegas).

Typically it is done by the officiant. It can be done by anyone and there is usually an envelope provided.
This depends on what state you live in. In Missouri you need to fill out a form which includes asking you your age, education, and job and any other names you are known under. They also ask for copies of divorce decrees if you have been married before. There is a fee but I can't remember what it is. In Missouri no blood test is needed but your have to apply for the certificate at least 3 days before the wedding and it is only good for 30 days.

No! You are not legally married. The priest or marriage officiant must file the license or certificate to with the clerk of courts in the state you were married in.
