How do you change spark plugs on a rx-7?
Make sure you have the correct plugs to start. There is 2 different sets. There is leading and trailing plugs. I buy mine at Mazda cause they usually have them in stock and come in a pack of 4 and are labelled clearly leading and trailing. All 4 plugs are located on the drivers side of the motor. The leading plugs are the bottom 2 and the trailing are the top 2. The spark plug wires coming from the distributor cap are labelled L1, T1, L2, T2. The rotor towards the front of the car is #1 and the rear #2. Therefore, L1 goes to the lower left plug, T1 the top left, L2 the lower right, and T2 the top right. Torque plugs to 9-11 ft/lbs.

Change broken wheel stud on 1887 Mazda?
Jack the car up, take the wheel off. Loosen the top bolt on the back of the brake caliper that holds it to your wheel hub (17mm) and remove the lower one (17mm), then swing it upwards out of the way (with one bolt still attached so it is not a pain to put back on).
Then rotate the brake rotor down so that the broken stud is lined up with the notch in the back of the wheel hub... feel around back there, there is a hold that goes through so that you can pound the stud out.
Then, if there is any thread left, put a lugnut on backwards and hammer it HARD with a mallet until it pops out, then pull it out the back of the hub through the hole. If there aren't any threads, take a hard metal stick (some kind of socket extension works) and put it against the broken stud and hammer it out.
Then, put the new one in from the back side. Put a spacer on it, and put the lugnut on backwards over that (so that the flat side of the lug, instead of the cone side is facing towards the hub) and tighten with a 21mm deep socket on a big wrench all the way until you can't turn any more. Check to see that the threads are OK, and put the wheel on to make sure it is in line with the other studs. It should also be sticking out the same distance.

How do you fix the speedometer on a Mazda RX-7?
The Speedo cable runs straight to the transmission. Have you had any tranny work or service's done recently or have you done any off road driving. The cable could be loose or the part needs replaced. I would check the condition of the cable and make sure everything is tight. If that's ok I would just replace the part and see what happens. MY speedo didnt work for awhile until I figured out that it just came loose. I had the transmission replaced and I guess the tech didnt tighten down the speedo to the trans. Luckly the same shop noticed it when I came in for an oil chandge. Lucky me.
the reverse idler gear runs off of first gear, on manual trannys, will not be discussed here. if only gets stuck in reverse then trans has internal problem, i do not rec. any one without tranny teardown exp. to attempt fixing problem. rec. having it diagnosed by a trained pro.
if it is a automatic trans then could possibly be problem in valve body rec. having trained pro. diagnose as well. on automatics make shure to check shift linkage adjustment prior to taking it to shop.

It's in the fuel tank and is accessible through a hole in the boot (Softop) and hatch floor in the hardtop. It has about 8 Phillips screws holding the plate on. Remove that then VACUUM THOROUGHLY or clean the best you can then unscrew the cap you will see under the plate .

if you have a bad apex seal you can replace the apex seals and side seals depending upon the condition of the engine, if the housing or side wall is worn or scraped badly than you will need new housings and possibly side walls. but your motor may run depending on how badly worn the apex seal is.
