How do you treat endometriosis?

Endometriosis is the abnormal growth of cells (endometrial cells) similar to those that form the inside of the uterus, but in a location outside of the uterus. Endometrial cells are cells that are shed each month during menstruation. The cells of endometriosis attach themselves to tissue outside the uterus and are called endometriosis implants. These implants are most commonly found on the ovaries, the Fallopian tubes, outer surfaces of the uterus or intestines, and on the surface lining of the pelvic cavity. They can also be found in the vagina, cervix, and bladder, although less commonly than other locations in the pelvis. Rarely, endometriosis implants can occur outside the pelvis, on the liver, in old surgery scars, and even in or around the lung or brain. Endometrial implants, while they can cause problems, are benign (not cancerous).

Does the pill have any side effects for teenage girls?

It depends on what kind of birth control you plan on taking. Most pills are known to regulate your period and decrease menstrual cramps. Most pills also make you nauseous for the first few weeks until your body gets used to taking them every day. Some pills are known to clear up acne which actually helped me when I was younger! It really depends on what pill you take. Some have the same side effects and others are different. I know a lot of people who were on the Depo shot and they gained a lot of weight(10-15lbs)! Theres a bc out there that you insert and change every 3 weeks and a friend of mine said that her husband complains of a needle like poking felling on his penis when they have sex! Theres so many options out there. Call a random gyno and ask questions.

How do you make your period less painful?

To reduce period crapms you could do lots if things :)

*You could get a bottle of hot water and place it on your belly - it reduces the cramps AND feels really nice too..

*Take hot baths with different spa treatments (bubbles, scenced oils, and duckies ^.^)

*I heard somewhere you shouldn't eat chocopate because that makes the cramps worse (i don't know if that's true though) and you SHOULD drink warm milk or coco milk (whatever you like with warm milk e.g cerial.. If you don't like milk then sorry)

*Exersise/yoga helps too - it relaxes your belly muscles and the cramps are bot that bad anymore (although some people find they feel worse after running or moving about too much but you should still try to do yoga because that's slower movement)

*Pain killers

*If you have really bad cramps then just stay in bed and be lazy! There's nothing more enjoyable on your period than when you lay down with a hot water bottle on your belly and watch your favorite TV program all day (I find this solution works best for me :D) .

So I hope I've helped you and you can say bye bye to your cramps :p.

Why do you get a backache when you get your period?

  • A lot of women get lower back pain during their period and don't have endometriosis. During menstruation, the womb has to contract in order for the uterus lining to be pushed out of the vagina (similar to, but not as severe as, labour contractions). Because certain muscles are being used more strenuously during your period than usual, they tend to cramp (like you'd get cramp if you did a workout and didn't stretch properly beforehand). This is what causes period pains. Muscle and tissue etc is connected, so cramping in these muscles can sometimes cause cramp in lower back muscles/tissue. The pain is most probably caused by this; your body working a little harder to expel the uneeded lining. Who'd be a woman, aye? As it's usually cramp, the best way to relieve the aches and pains is to do some light exercise. Just a gentle walk can ease pain, if you can manage it. If not, just take painkillers, relax, and try and breathe through the worst of it.
  • Oh, well, I got lower back pain from my period because I had endometriosis and also because I walked hunched over during my period because it hurt more to stand up straight. Why you get lower back pain might be different but there is a good chance that it is the same reason. If you are in good shape, sit up straight and have no other reason for back pain give your GYN a call. Endometriosis often goes unnoticed for years because so many women have mild symptoms or none or ignore the ones they do have. But, it is the number one cause of infertility in women. It can be a serious health problem. It might just be that you are more sensitive to pain or some other non-issue but it could be the sign of a real health problem.

Does it hurt when you pee and have period?

No, it should never hurt when you pee. Menstruation and urination are two very different bodily functions which are not connected, if you are experiencing pain during urination it mays suggest that you have a urinary tract infection or a yeast infection which is causing damage to the vulva (when urine hits the damaged tissue this can cause pain). If you're using commercial menstrual pads such as Always or Kotex these can increase risk of urinary tract infections and yeast infections - it's best to use organic cotton pads like Natracare or cloth pads like Lunapads instead. If the pain continues or gets worse then talk to your doctor.

Is there any way other then medication to stop period cramps?

I have a good way that works really well and cheap. When I have bad cramps, I drink a cup of hot water with PLENTY OF BROWN SUGAR added in it. It works well, tastes sweet, and it doesn't have the side affects of pills and medicine. And dark brown sugar works the best.
