Menstruation

Menstruation is the routine discharge, or release, of blood and mucosal tissue from the uterus. This process occurs about once a month from the time a female reaches puberty until menopause. During pregnancy, the monthly menstrual cycle is absent while the womb nourishes the growing fetus.

Can lime stop your period?

No, lime cannot stop your period.

Your period is determined by your menstrual cycle, hormonal changes between parts of your brain and parts of your reproductive system - lime cannot effect this.

Your period is a few days late but it is not always on time when it does come it is light what does that mean?

Ok, this one has a lot of variables. I'll try and answer. If you're sexually active and you have had sex - even with birth control - you should wait 3 weeks after the act and take 2 home pregnancy tests (two different companies. Chances of one being wrong are there, chances of two from different companies being wrong are almost nil.) If you didn't use a condom (or if you did but you notice some differences, like itching or different smell or texture to your discharge) you should also go get tested for all the major STD's. Gross but if you ignore it it can mess you up permanently; and most of them are really easy to treat. If you're not sexually active, I wouldn't worry too much. Maybe you were stressed, or you changed your diet, or got sick or excercised too much - loads of things can cause your period to be light. It happens. If you have any concerns like this it's a good idea to talk to a school nurse or family doctor. There are occasional conditions that can cause problems with having kids later in life, but if you're under 20 and not in pain or bleeding excessively you're probably fine - and you're going to have significant variation in your period. It sometimes takes a while (years) for your hormones to settle down after they kick in. If you're sexually active it's a VERY good idea to talk to a doctor or find some way to learn about birth control and safe sex. There are some good websites out there too, as a starting point - just type in "safe sex" at a search engine and you'll get plenty of info. It's nothing to be embarrassed about. Everybody learns about it sometime, unless you devote yourself to being a nun at a very young age (don't laugh, it happens and it takes some major guts to do).

You are expecting your period in about 10 days and you have regular periods but for the last two days you have been spotting with a brown discharge Is that normal and what does it mean you also took t?

Hello. I cant see the rest of your message unfortunately. But if you've taken morning after pill then this could be why your bleeding early now. Or it could be pregnancy related or you may have a UTI.

Why does sex make you start your period?

Sex does not make you start your period; it happens due to the hormones in your body during development- these hormones are highly active during your sexual development, which begins around the age of nine and ends somewhere between the ages of 15 and 18, and therefore trigger your menstrual cycle (your period).

Keep in mind that even if you have not had your very first period, you can still get pregnant if you have (unprotected) sex before it.

Can you have heavy bleeding and clotting with pregnancy and the baby still be fine?

As long as you are under the care of a doctor for the condition and on bed rest. It is possible, but your pregnancy is extremely high risk.

What phase of the menstrual cycle is the lining of uterus becomes thin after bleeding?

Can you leave your period pad 7 hours before you change it?

You can, but it's not advisable to leave your pad that long if you can help it.

You should change pads around every 4-6 hours - the longer you leave it the longer you're allowing bacteria to build-up which can cause bad odour, irritation, and infection. It's especially important to change often if using disposables, and commercial pads are particularly unhygienic so it's important to change often to reduce risks of bad odour and infections.

Can you have the coil if am not on a period?

Yes, you can have the coil fitted when not menstruating. Some doctors may recommend having the coil fitted because it's easier to insert when your cervix is open or best to start hormonal birth control (including hormonal IUD) during menstruation, but it can be inserted at any time. Remember that IUD's are also used as emergency contraception, thus they have to be able to be used when a woman is not menstruating.

What could delay my period after I have successfully menstruate for two months after sex?

if there has been no menstruation for 3 months or longer, it is referred to as amenorrhea, or delayed menstruation. Anything shorter than this is only a late menstruation. Delayed menstruation may happen as a result of many things, the seriousness of which vary widely. For example malnutrition, eating disorders, abnormal body weight . Sometimes diabetes, thyroid deficiency, depression, lack of ovulation due to the pill or deprovera, can result in delayed menstruation as well. Some times the reason may be insufficient hormone production, polycystic ovaries, and sometimes even tumors.

If menstruation has not occurred for 3 months or more and you are not pregnant, you should visit the doctor. A health care professional should be able to help you determine the cause of your problem. they can get you hormonal assays and then trans-vaginal ultrasound to see the ovaries. With these reports, consult your gynecologist who will be able to diagnose you.

If you have irregular periods then this could be why. But you need to rule out pregnancy. See your doctor for a blood test.

When you start your period can the baby attach itself to the uterus?

If you start your period then there is no baby - it's biologically impossible to menstruate while pregnant, also the fertilised egg implants itself to the uterus 10-16 days after conception, thus by the time it is a baby it's already a few months into pregnancy.

Is it normal to feel pain when your leg is in a cast?

It is indeed normal to have swelling and pain in foot after a leg cast is taken off. There is a change in pressure.

How many pads are normal to go through a day...and are pads or tampons more sanitary Thanks -Rae?

How many pads you go through in a day depends on your flow and what pads you're using. You should be changing pads at least every 4-6 hours, so from around 4 pads per day is normal.

Pads are more hygienic than tampons, this is because tampons allow major bacterial growth in the vagina while preventing vaginal cleaning, pads at least allow the vagina to continue cleaning itself as normal. Commercial pads such as Always or Kotex aren't very hygienic as they prevent air-flow which means blood can't dry and you become sweaty so bacteria and yeast can thrive - if you use pads it's best to use cloth pads such as Lunapads or Gladrags, or at least organic pads like Emerita or Maxim. There are also other menstrual products such as menstrual cups or softcups.
