How effective is amitripyline for migraines?

As stated, many people think of the migraine aura only as the visual occurrences. The visual changes are called scotoma - the word for when there is something - usually something dark, obscuring the vision of the eye. A positive scotoma would be any aura where you feel like there is actually something in the way of your vision, whether light or dark. A negative scotoma is when your eye fails to register anything - it isn't that you see black, you don't see anything in the space where it seems dark. A scintillating scotoma is the one most commonly seen - where there is flickering, flashing patterns, or at times a snow almost like the snow on an old TV set.

I am a 24 year old female and am shocked to discover there are other people the same age with the same problem with numbness and tingling of the head. I too get anxious when I have symptoms of any sort and it took me a while to gather the nerve to even look up what might be the cause of the symptoms. How weird, I am also 24 and a hair stylist. I suffer from migraines, neck & shoulder pain from my job etc. For the first time today the back of my head went numb and very cold feeling, which to me was a bit strange. Well folkes I am pushing 50 know and had this cold head for many years ,stayed away from dinning rooms that are air condintioned etc.
I wear a ball cap ever day and a bed cap every night to bed.
Been to a few Doctors.They believe I frozze my head to many times working up north. Not !
There is hope. It is mostly in the neck . Chiropractors helped some .
But what realy helped me is taking 2 Calcium pills 500mg each before bed time.
It took about 2 weeks to notice a diffence.
Must be because we have not been drinking enough milk ,more pop and beer etc.
Joints are working better ,maybe allowing more blood flow to the scalp now.
Still wear a cap in cool days,just don't need a hot shower or use of a hiar dryer in the morning.
Can stopping Depo-Provera cause cramps and diarrhea?
I would doubt it, since they give you a preg test before first shot, but no bc is 100%, so take test or see doc. In my experience with depo, the first two shots gave me the worst cramps I have ever had, with spotting and bleeding. I took the shot for a year, and even though its not part of your question, I do NOT recommend depo for anyone. It really messes you up, also they have published reports that it causes bone mass loss after two years of it. My gyn said she would've stopped the shot before two years.

The People I Know That Have Taken Depakote Experenced Significant Weight Gain. This Is Not Shown In The Indications Of This Drug. But It Is My Opinion That This Happens. I`m Not Sure If There Is A Medication To Treat Bipolar Ect. That Does Not Cause Weight Gain Also. Hope This Helps

I take both Xanax and Depakote. I have been taking Depakote for 7 months and I just started taking Xanax with it. I also take an anti-depressant. I already am noticing that the Xanax trumps it all! I think I will stop taking my Depakote and take my Xanax and anti-depressant. I never liked Depakote because I get extremely fatiqued while on it and I really do not know what the hell it is doing to me anyways. In my case I feel so bad that I do not care about addiction right now and I just want to feel normal. Xanax I feel was made for some and not others. If you experience so much anxiety that it makes you break down and cry, then I suggest Xanax. Forget what people say and if it helps that is all that matters.
