How do you the tasks of green beret differ from that of SFOD-D?

SFOD-D is Delta Force which is primarily a counter terrorism unit specializing in hostage rescue tactics. Special Forces Groups specialize in foreign internal defense, counter insurgency operations and special reconnaissance. Special Forces personnel endure over a year of training (2years for 18D Medical Sergeants) and are then placed in a Special Forces Group. Each Group is assigned a separate regional area of the world and each member speaks the local language of that area and masters the local customs to assimilate into the local culture. Where Delta usually kicks in doors and conducts quick raid style operations, Special Forces are primarily teachers and instruct local militia forces and turn them into formidible fighting forces, in-turn creating a large force of indigenous personnel to conduct missions. Using these local fighters to wage war reduces the need of risking American lives to resolve foreign problems and allows the locals most affected by the struggle to directly make a difference in their own country. Don't be misunderstood, Special forces personnel can still kick doors with the best of them but they are specifically designed to infiltrate deep within foreign nations to gather intelligence, train local forces and conduct military operations long before conventional troops are deployed. Another difference is that Delta usually conducts quick in and out missions whereas Special Forces can spend anywhere between 6 months to years in another country conducting operations. Special Forces personnel are highly flexible and therefore an invaluable asset to strategic military planners and theatre commanders.

Is the Indian navy special forces better trained than us navy seals?

I assume you're referring to the Indian Navy MARCOS group (previously MCF). MARCOS are certainly well trained and dedicated, but they were founded in 1984, whereas SEALs were derrived from Navy UDT (Underwater Demolition Teams) dating back to WW-II. Also, SEALS trained under a huge budget from the mid-1980's on, and it's hard to imagine MARCOS had a training budget or operational budget anywhere near that size.

With no disrespect intended to MARCOS, I'd have to say no -- SEALs are better trained.

Can you be a army ranger and a navy SEAL?

No, not since 1994, when we tested the watch out and found that it flooded after a couple weeks of diving as shallow as 25 feet. The watch is too bright for tactical operations, and is analog, where most of our guys where a digital watch because of its more precise timing. The most common issued watches are Suunto and G-Shock, but it is largely up to personal preference.

Does a divers bouyancy change with depth?

Absolutely - air compresses at depth, and because wetsuits are made up of air cells, they compress and lose buoyancy along with the air in the BCD, so divers have to add air while descending. Also, as you breathe air, the tank gets about 6 pounds lighter during the dive, so you need to release air. Finally, as air expands while ascending, you need to let air out.

Why do you mix nitrogen with air when scuba diving?

actually we dont mix nitrogen nor oxygen we use normal fresh air.

The normal Air is 21% oxygen + 78% Nitrogen + 1% others.

As humans more oxygen can be toxic for us especially underwater.

However, in some cases "Like with Nitrox" we add more oxygen to make the percentage up to 40%, but this require specific training and certification.
