OBD Diagnostic Codes

Code P0715 is triggered when the transmission's Input Speed Sensor isn't providing a reliable signal. Common Problems are a defective input/turbine speed sensor, defective shift solenoids, a defective engine coolant temperature sensor, a defective valve body, or dirty transmission fluid that restricts the hydraulic passages.

No voltage from Auto shut down relay.

This is one of those codes that comes up when something else is wrong. The auto shut down relay kills everything, sets the code and send you down the wrong path.

The relay can go bad but often is not. Usually a crank sensor or other critical sensor fails and the computer triggers the ASD.

Trouble code P0452 means: Evaporative emission control system,pressure sensor low input

Change in MAP sensor reading beyond limits.

I would think not. The codes are unrelated. P0122 is Throttle Position Sensor. P2011 is Intake Manifold Runner Control Circuit.

Trouble code P1361 means: Ignition Coil/Amplifier Cylinder 3 Circuit Open

AutoZone has them in their store computer. You can call them or get a service manual on your car and they are usually listed in their. if you go with autozone all you have to so is call them with the code and the year make and model and they can tell you. P.S. just rember that code 13 is all systems ok and it will flash 3 times before giving you the problem codes. and it will always give them to you 3 times before it moves to the next code.

C1198 - IF this is the only code, check the connections at the wheel sensors, remove, clean and replace plugs, check wiring, and the ABS module. If this SINGLE code persists, replace the sensor, if that fails a new hub should solve it. These are common issues due to location of the sensor wires and the fact that they can be tugged at when turning a tight radius. Make sure wires are not charred or pulled form connector.

If you have a whole list of different ABS circuit codes: check the connections at the ABS module, these modules are known to fail but more common are the wiring/connection issues.

P0068 MAP/MAF - Throttle Position Correlation

Engine will run rough, or idle rough
Engine may not accelerate well
May have a dead spot in acceleration

Cause
Dirty air cleaner, or obstruction in air flow
Vacuum leak between the MAF and intake manifold
Leak in the intake manifold
Bad sensor or connectors
Bad throttle body
Blocked hose from intake manifold to MAP sensor

Repair any vacuum leaks, inspect all hoses and connections
replace air filter or remove obstructions
Repair or replace any bad wire connectors
Clean any hoses that are gunked up
Test and or replace the MAF, TPS, and MAP sensors

There are pages and pages of things that can cause a check engine light. You need to have it checked with a scantool. Then the code can be diagnosed and repaired.

Trouble code P0811 means: Excessive clutch slippage

All new Avanza (TAM/Indonesian) has OBD II. I have tested using elm327 v1.5.

Trouble code P1684 means: The battery has been disconnected within the last 50 starts

Trouble code P0302 means: Cylinder 2 misfire detected

I had the same code. Change wires and plugs... AND DO NOT GAP THE PLUGS. They are preset at the factory and if you stick a feeler gauge in them, you'll scratch the platinum and they will not fire correctly. Trust me, it cost me $150 to find this out.

Bank one, catalytic converter warm up efficiency. The catalyst is not effective while the engine warms up.

For OBDII it will be within a foot or so of the steering column in the passengers compartment.

Trouble code P0420 means: Catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 1)

P0300 Diagnostic Code - Random Misfire

Symptoms.
Engine may stumble or miss
Engine may be hard to start
you may notice no issues

Cause
Failing spark plugs or spark plug wires
Bad coil or coil pack
Failing oxygen sensor(s)
Bad fuel injector or more than one
Stuck exhaust valve
Bad catalytic converter
EGR valve or valve passage clogging
Bad camshaft position sensor
Bad PCM or ECM

The Fix
Best first action is a tune up, new plugs, wires, inspect all hoses and wire connections then reset the code. If it returns you will need to narrow it down to a system, coils and coil packs should be tested, catalytic converters for function ( do you smell rotten eggs?). A misfire that jumps cylinders could indicate a lean condition, do you have any other codes along with the 300? this will help clue you in to the source, check valve function to make sure they are opening and closing fully.
This is probably pone of the most difficult codes to troubleshoot, so start with the basics and work your way into the more expensive options, in many cases a good old tune up solves the problem, back it up with a fuel system cleaning and see where you stand.

If there are no exhaust leaks or other codes, the catalytic converter has failed. You will need to replace it.

P1776, solenoid switch valve latched in low/reverse position. The usual cause is dirt in the transmission valve body.
