You need the help of a nutritionist. They will take into consideration your allergies to different foods and PCOS. It should make you feel better to know that more and more people can't tolerate wheat (I am one of them) or grains of any kind. Dairy products are a problem for people "lactose intolerant" but, as you know they now have dairy products out you can eat. I am slim (lost 30 lbs. recently) can't eat wheat or most grains with the exception of flax seed (excellent for the body and makes the hair shine and the skin healthy) and I live in British Columbia near Vancouver, where it's difficult to get good, ripe fruit. I eat bananas for potassium, grapes, mangos, papaya (good for the stomach) watermelon (loaded with vitamin C) and love pears and peaches along with blackberries and strawberries only if I can get them good and ripe. Thus, it's difficult for people near the city here to get good ripe fruit and we don't always get our daily diet of it. You can make up for it by eating lots of veggies, eat what fruits are available, eat flax seed (can sprinkle it on your cereal or even buy cereal with it in it .. cold cereal that is.) Oats are excellent and it's been proved that oats along with applesauce or apples lowers the cholesterol levels. 8 - 10 glasses of water a day as it flushes out fat and toxins and keeps the organs, especially the kidneys healthy. Some good fats are a necessity to the body and olive oil is the best source. Exercise is extremely important and it can be either heavy-duty weight training at a gym to just fast walking, jogging, biking or a brisk walk as often as possible. If you find it difficult to get out of your home to do these things, then pick one time during the day to walk and the rest of the time exercising in your home. There are loads of good equipment out there and if you go on the Shopping Channel you should be able to pick up a good piece of exercise equipment for a good price.

Is obesity a risk factor for morbidity and mortality with Novel H1N1 - Swine Flu?
Yes, according to Dr Marie-Paule Kieny, the Director of the Initiative for Vaccine Research at WHO Headquarters in a press briefing on July 13, 2009. Dr. Kieny said:
"In terms of obesity, obesity has been observed as being one of the risk factors for more severe diseases other than H1N1 influenza. This is an observation. We still don't know exactly if it is obesity itself which is a risk factor, or if it is other health conditions which arise because of obesity. For the time being it is an observation and a lot of investigations are conducted to try and understand this better.
It has been observed in several countries that people with a body mass index over 30, and even more, over 40, have a higher chance of having a severe disease than non obese people. This is why one of the groups that was mentioned, that was listed by SAGE, and that was worth considering for pandemic influenza vaccination contains all populations over 6 months of age with risk factors, and one of the risk factors listed is obesity."
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measurement long used to determine presence and degree of overweight and obesity in an objective manner. It is calculated from weight and height resulting in a number that can be translated into an indicator of the fat ratio in the body.
A BMI of over 30 is often considered to be indication of "morbid obesity". This means that the obesity is causing unhealthy conditions that allow disease and disorders to develop. In Novel H1N1, the risk of serious illness or death is greater in the morbidly obese than the general population.
See the related links below for a link to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention site with a BMI calculator for adults and children/teens.
What is the average height of a 15 year old Hispanic girl?
The average height of a Hispanic female regardless of age is 5 foot 3 inches. This includes a 15 year old Hispanic girl.
Yes, it is legitimate. There are different versions of "hypothyroidism." The version most documented and treated for is underproduction of T4 & T3 by the thyroid.
This is often treated by giving the patient pure synthetic T4 (Synthroid), which the body naturally converts into T3 and a very small amount of rT3.
But, if you are a poor converter of T4-->T3 (i.e. you produce excess rT3 in the process), taking Synthroid can actually exacerbate your hypothyroid symptoms by upping your rT3. Those of Irish, Welsh, Russian, and Native American decent in particular tend to be poor converters.
RT3 is a very potent inhibitor of active T3, so a high rT3 count can cause severe hypothyroid symptoms even if T4 and T3 levels are normal.
You correct high rT3 by supplementing with pure T3 (extended release form is now available from compounding pharmacies). Google the "Wilson's T3 Protocol" for more detailed information on T3 supplementation. You may need to cut back on your T4 dose at the same time so your body doesn't have as much T4 to convert into rT3.

Alcohol is very high in calories, and it also can affect the way the body metabolises. Your body can react by storing it as fat rather than using it as fuel. More than one drink a day, and certainly binge drinking, is likely to increase your weight, while lesser amounts evenly spread won't. Sometimes the environment in which you are drinking can contribute to weight gain as well. Eating high calorie snacks, little activity and smoking often go together with a drinking session, which compounds the problem as each on their own have been linked to weight increase.
