If you mean factory security system you need an auto locksmith that can plug into cars computer (ECU) it takes about 5 minutes and just pay for a service call. Find one on Craigs under auto locksmith services that is mobile and does security (chipped) keys, can reset PATS (passive anti theft) they will come to you and will cost less than a tow. You can't bypass it since it disables more than one system so it won't go anywhere until reset. If light is flashing with key turned, that is what it is. . Make the call.

Start the engine, put a volt meter across the battery terminal and have a helper bring the engine RPM up to about what it would be at 30 mph. The meter should show about 13.5 to 14 Volts DC. If it won't go that high, its an alternator or regulator problem. If it does, great, now move on to the next step. Turn on EVERYTHING, lights, blower motor, rear window defroster and watch the volt meter. It shouldn't drop significantly and if it DOES drop slightly, a few extra RPM should bring it right back up. If the alternator has a serious problem keeping the voltage up to that level, you should have the alternator tested by a qualified shop.

The most important thing is that you change 1 at a time so you dont get confused and put the wrong lead on the wrong plug.

So take 1 HT lead and remove it from the spark plug and follow the lead back to the distributor cap and remove it from there. then replace the lead with a new one.

Repeat.

Usuall any alarm system can be disabled by unplugging the box. A local stereo shop can do it or if you can find where the installer put it you could probably do it yourself. Most are located above the brake pedal/steering column area, look for the big ball of wires & follow it to the box. If that won't do it get hold of a shop that sells that specific make or get hold of the manufacturer

Firstly it depends upon the year. Older cars used the monoleaf which is extremely hard to find (last time I looked). Listed replacements are the more conventional multileaf type. When my '63 broke one, I found a very low milage one resting in a farmer's field ! It was $10 ! A few years later I had it, and the other side, re-arched at a spring shop.

Disconnect the negative ground cable, then the positive cable. There is a center bolt holding the cables in place. Remove the battery hold down clamp which is located in front of the battery. You will probably need an rachet with an extention to get down to the hold down clamp which is between the battery and the front of the battery bracket. It may be necessary to remove the cross piece that runs across the top of the battery in order to remove it from the car. Hope this helps.
