How long do you need to wait to do a cut and polish after a new paint job on your car?
Depending on the paint manufacture(ppg, sikkens, dupont,) usually 24-72 hrs. Also if you baked the paint in a booth, or just air dried. The reason you wait is to let the paint gas off. What that means is let the chemicals evaporate and let the paint cure. If you fail to do this, the evaporation of the reducers will still be gassing off and will ruin all your time and effort. When in doubt read the directions, and the material data sheet from your paint supplier.
What ratio do you mix industrial enamel with thinner?
The trick is to add as much thinner as you need. Using a mixing stick aluminum is my preferred mixing stick material and i really do not recommend using a wooden stick with thinner. When you mix it around and you pull the mixing stick out you have to make sure no matter how hard you try when you pull the mixing stick there must be drops only never a filament. Using thin paint is also the key to avoiding orange peel. If using an HVLP gun make sure to read the msds datasheet available for any painting product to see gun settings typically flat color (not metallic) will likely have a recommended 15 to 20 psi at gun if you have and you should have one gauge mounted on your hose you are using when the trigger is pulled the difference in pressure is what is found at the air cap usually between 5 and 10 psi and a 1.4 mm buse. Always wait your flash times between coats 10 mins for voc solvent paint a real 10 mins use a paint strainer to avoid splatters, clean our surface with solvent acetone or final wash before paint.
2 Thin coats one where you see a sheet of wet water like fill the surface. Use 1200 grit to sand clear coats, buff and enjoy. That is how you paint like a pro.

How do you seal cast iron with a clear coat?
The best way is to sandblast it, then wet it , and allow it to rust for a couple of days, and then brush on 2 coats of a combined rust converter/sealer. Use the type that contains ferric tannate, not phosphoric acid. It will turn it black and glossy, and lasts for years. I once did an old wrought iron gate this way, and it worked beautifully.

Why water cannot used to removed paints?
Water can be used to remove latex-based enamel before it dries. Attempting to use water to remove wet, oil-based paint will have little effect. In either case, paint is not designed to be water-soluble after drying, and caustic solvents are needed to break down the chemical bond that holds the paint components together.

Can you paint your car a different color while its being leased?
The short answer is Yes and No! Your lease will state that you must return the vehicle in a reasonable condition. The lease company will accept normal "wear and tear" without penalty, but a different color would not fall within the definition of normal "wear and tear. This leaves you with 3 options, the first and most obvious is to paint it, and paint it again before you return it.
In option 1, you suffer the expense of painting it twice, if it costs approx $3500 to paint it once? However your problem may not end there, if the leasing company discovers the double repaint (and they probably will) then the vehicle is no longer in an original condition and they will charge you a penalty.
Option 2 involves painting the vehicle with a peelable paint coating, like Hydroblue Re~Color the procedure here is to just clean the vehicle, select a color and paint it yourself. This unique paint will adhere with minimum force to the existing paint and when it comes time to return the vehicle, simply peel of the color, It will leave no residue behind and in fact the original paint will have been protected.
Option 3 involves covering the car with plastic wrap, this is a vinyl material that sticks to your car and gives the appearance of paint, again, like option 2, it is simply peeled off before the vehicle is returned. It is not as easy to remove as option 2 and often leaves behind a residue that is not easily cleaned. The cheapest option is 2.
How can you remove oil based wood stain splatter from your cars paint?
1. Take the car out of the sun right away. 2. I would find an area on your vehicle that won't be noticed but has the stain on it. 3. Go to your local Home Depot, Lowes etc. and look for Goof Off and an Orange concentrated cleaner. While you are there buy some rags - the white type. 4. Start with the Orange cleaner. If it takes it off (because the stain hasn't hardeded too much yet) you are good to go. If not try the Goof Off. 5. You may have to take the car to a detail man and have it buffed out after - or they can tell you if they can take care of the whole problem by buffing it out in the first place.

Why is the inside of an oven painted black and not white?
Black is the ideal absorber/emitter of electromagnetic radiation (e.g. infrared in the oven), helping the inside of the oven chamber more rapidly reach thermal equilibrium and a steady temperature.
Many early ovens were white inside, but that was before the recognition that black is the ideal absorber/emitter.
Note: the oven is not painted on the inside, as paint would be damaged at oven temperatures, instead it is enameled (whatever the color). Enamel is a fired glass/ceramic material that is applied like paint but then heated until it melts and fuses directly to the metal surface.
Can you use nail polish to paint plastic?
Try it on a small, hidden area, but it should be fine. Nail polish is a kind of paint called nitrocellulose lacquer; if the solvent (acetone) won't dissolve the plastic, go for it.
How do you repair sandpaper scratch in glass?
2000 grit sandpaper is fine but to polish it as clear as it was you will need Cerium Oxide, and a buffer. I used it to repair my aquarium glass. Sand with specific grit until the entire scratch looks uniform. 2000 grit wet sand, then buff with cerium oxide (use some muscle) until it is crystal clear. Be careful though, if you sand too much in a single spot you will make a small mirrored displacement effect that will need to be "feathered" out. If the scratches are more severe and cost to replace the glass is too much you can have it repaired for a fraction of the cost.
