What is society's view on prisoners?

I know how I feel about it. I participate in Society, I am not the whole of Society. Prisoners should have rights too. Yes, they commit crimes, some worse than others. Why do they commit crime? What lead them to that decision? Is it drug and alcohol related? There really is no excuse for crime, however, if you dig deep enough, you will discover a reason for the crime/s. There is always a reason! I agree that they have an education whilst in prison. Any assistance / support to help them make better choices on release is a positive. We need more support for prisoners when they are released. A parole officer is not support!

Can your probation officer search your roommates room in your house?

What is the statute of litations on parole violation in Texas when a person is in another state but paroled by Texas?

There is none. Absconding is an open felony. If not apprehended, you are a fugitive. Look at the case of the woman who absconded/escaped from the Michigan DOC 20+ years ago and was apprehended in California earlier this year. Look at the case of Roman Polanski. If you abscond or escape, you will be listed as a fugitive, you will be captured eventually, and you will do the time. Consider whether you want to do the time now or when you are 70 or older. Your best bet is to face it now and be done.

What is the punishment for a Motion to Revoke probation?

If your probation is revoked, it means that you will be sent to jail/prison to serve the remainder of your sentence behind bars.

Are parole officers and probation officers the same?

They are pretty close to the same. A Parole officer monitors people who have been released from prison but still have to fulfill some requirements etc. A probation officer monitors people who have committed crimes but didn't go to prison and have to fulfill some requirements and not commit any new crimes.

Can a fellon have a bb gun in tx?

Yes. A bb gun is not a firearm.

By law a "firearm" is:

Texas law - "any device designed, made, or adapted to expel a projectile through a barrel by using the energy generated by an explosion or burning substance or any device readily convertible to that use."

Federal law - " any weapon (including a starter gun) which will or is designed to or may readily be converted to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive"

Can I own a firearm when discharged from parole?

This ALL depends on what state you live in, and what crime you committed. In most states, you must have a clean record to possess a firearm with no felonies, so if it is a misdemeanor, it takes the time they tell you to have it expunged from your record. If it is a felony, you can NEVER own a gun legally.

Is it likely that you will get parole after serving only 9 months off a 3 year bit?

Typically, no. However, it will be more accurately determined by your original sentence and the statutory sentencing laws of the state in which you were convicted and sentenced.

For instance, the only way an inmate in Michigan or any of the other Truth in Sentencing states could be reviewed for parole after only nine months would be if the minimum sentence he received was nine months. the shortest term of incarceration I have ever heard of in the MDOC or any state DOC is one year, and most offenders serve eighteen months.

Expect to serve at least half the maximum sentence. There is a saying in prison: "Hope for the best, but expect the worst."

If your maximum sentence was three years, count yourself fortunate, learn your lesson, and change the direction of your life. With a sentence of only three years, you were given a second chance that many never receive.
