Many Heavy Metal bands wore platforms, in the 70s, and early 80s. Nowdays some bands still wear them as a gimmick. This was known as 'GLAM ROCK'. The band that springs to my mind is KISS. This was by no means the first band to do so. DAVID BOWIE was also a big wearer of platforms. ha ha boom boom

I am not an expert, this is just to give you an idea of what is involved in learning pointe. I believe the minimum age you can learn is about 12 and many would say even older than that. This is because doing pointe before your body is fully developed can do permanent and serious injury. For those old enough, years of training is required to build the appropriate muscle strength and posture. If you began as an adult such as myself, (I am still in my 20's) to dance on pointe, most teachers will tell you that it requires 5 hours or more a week for a number of years to build up the strength required so that you will not hurt yourself.

Every body is different, some people may never be able to dance on pointe and some people may be able to progress to the advanced level more quickly. It depends on the dancer but you must have proper training and a qualified ballet master to teach you.

Well, obviously if you want to go into one of those fields, then choose that one. Other wise, it really doesn't matter, as long as you have extracurriculars. Try to find something in which you can obtain a leadership role. And if you are interested in a particular major, then do activities related to that. But most of all, make sure your GPA is as close to 4.0 as possible and you do well on the SAT and ACT exams.

W.D.O.U.J.I is an acronym for the band The Witch Doctors of Underground Jazz Improvisation said to be one of the most influential Filipino jazz band in the early part of this decade.
