What was the Ohito Declaration?

The health of the planet is being undermined by systemic breakdowns on several levels. Faith communities are not taking effective action to affirm the bond between humankind and nature, and lack accountability in this regard. Human systems continue to deteriorate, as evidenced by militarism, warfare, terrorism, refugee movement, violations of human rights, poverty, debt and continued domination by vested financial, economic and political interests. Biological systems and resources are being eroded, as evidenced by the ongoing depletion, fragmentation and pollution of the natural systems. Recognising the important parallels between cultural and biological diversity, we feel a special urgency with regard to the ongoing erosion of cultures and faith communities and their environmental traditions, including the knowledge of people living close to the land.

What is international ballroom dance?

There are two main styles of ballroom dancing -- American and International. American style is danced primarily in, you guessed it, America. :) It's also not as standardized as International style, which is danced just about everywhere else in the world (and in the US, too). Here in the US where I am, American style tends to be used more often for social dancing while International style tends to be used primarily in competitions. This doesn't mean that you can't compete in American style or dance International style socially. Personally, I prefer International style and dance it socially all the time. :) People will dance either American or International style socially, as they choose, and competitions normally include both styles as well, so it's good to know both styles (at least in the US). As for the dances themselves, they are grouped into two categories for each style. In American style, the categories are called Smooth and Rhythm and in International style they are called Standard and Latin. For the most part, the Standard and Smooth categories contain the same dances and the Latin and Rhythm categories contain basically the same dances. Here's the breakdown of the dances (at least the ones used in competitions) by style and category followed by the usual abbreviations used for each. There are placed in the order that they are danced in competitions. * American Style (the ISTD's syllabus) ** Smooth -- Waltz (W), Tango (T), Foxtrot (F), Viennese Waltz (VW) ** Rhythm -- Cha Cha (C), Rumba (R), East Coast Swing (Sw), Bolero (B), Mambo (Ma) * International Style (the ISTD's syllabus, the the IDTA's syllabus, and a combined version) ** Standard -- Waltz (W), Tango (T), Viennese Waltz (VW), Foxtrot (F), Quickstep (Q) ** Latin -- Cha Cha (C), Samba (S), Rumba (R), Paso Doble (PD), Jive (J)

What is the difference between ballet and modern dance?

Modern Dance and BalletThere are numerous differences between modern dance and ballet. Classical ballet as we know it today has developed over 100s and 100s of years. It has become a very specific technique that requires much patience and hard workfor both the student, professional, and teacher, similar to a concert pianist or a famous writer.

Modern, or 'contempory' dance, is relatively new in comparison to Ballet. This does not mean the structure or difficulty is any less. Specific techniques have been developed over the past 100 yrs or so that began originally to rebel against the poise and formal structure of classical ballet.Modern can be danced with or without ballet shoes, but rarely do modern dancers use pointe shoes. The rebellion against classical in part was inspired by dancers wanting to be more 'earthy' so pointe shoes were too 'etheral'. Both the style and music are fundemental differences between the two.

Each have thoughts that have inspired dancers/choreographers to express themselves through the art of dance in different ways.

For example, ballet tends to "turn their feet out" and "point their toes." But in modern dance, anything goes, since they can be earthy, they can walk heel, toe. But in ballet you, normally, walk on your toes. Modern or Contemporary dancers can flex their feet when they kick, classical ballet normally looks down on that.

Ballet is more demanding on the body, modern dancing is more free...

In ballet you have to work more on posture, turn out, core strength,

When you get to a certain level you start pointe work.....

It is easier to go from ballet to modern, than from modern to ballet....

Ballet also gets you great legs, and better posture.... ballet is better for you and your body... but modern is more fun, and less stressful....

The difference between modern and jazz dance, is that in modern dance the movements come from your own feelings and expression. Modern also has fundamentals in ballet and focuses on taking up space. Jazz dance is an older type of dance and the steps do not come from your feelings. It is faster paced and involves attitude. Both of these dance forms have traces in ballet.

Depends who your audience is. If it's around middle school or highschool age, do something interesting that will keep your audiences attention. For example: A magic trick. Bake cookies. Pack a hiking backpack. Put on ski/hockey/football gear. Draw. How to tie a tie. How to sell something on ebay. How to jump a hurdle. Positions for dance/ballet. A card trick. A dance routine. Playing the drums/piano/guitar/violin etc. How to study for finals. How to make a demonstration speech. How to make a speech. How to survive teacher's lectures. Getting people's attention. Etc. How To Dagger Dance?

First you have to know how to whine especially if you are a girl. By the way daggering is dry sex. The boy forces his penis on the girl's bottom while she has her bottom pressed to his crotch rotating her bottom and whining. Some boys whine with the girl others just keep still while receiving the pleasure. It sometimes gives the male an erection but that depends on how good the girl's whining skills are. The whole point of daggaring is to feel sexual pleasure without really have sex and with your clothes on. Once a girl knows how to whine all is well. Daggering is the privilege of freaky and wild dance at a party to a good song that you can show your moves off to. As a girl depending on the song you bend over while whining. Through most of the daggering you will have your back bent so prepare for serious back pain the next morning unless your body has already adjusting to the fact that your bending over for so long. Some girls go on their toes while daggering but that is just some girls. Also girls, once the whine a lot, normally get abs or build sexy muscles in the stomach area from whining.
