What is meant by compression of morbidity?
Compression of morbidity refers to the concept of reducing the time period during which individuals experience illness or disability as they age. The goal is to shift the onset of chronic diseases and health issues to later in life, thereby allowing people to enjoy a longer period of good health before experiencing significant health declines. This can be achieved through lifestyle changes, advances in medical care, and public health interventions aimed at promoting healthier aging. Ultimately, it emphasizes enhancing quality of life in later years while minimizing the burden of disease.

What are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in children?
== Leadingcauses of mortalityand morbidity === As in the past, most of the leading causes of morbidity are communicable diseases, including diarrhoea, bronchitis, pneumonia, influenza, tuberculosis, malaria, chickenpox and measles. In 2005, dengue, diseases of the heart and hypertension were also among the leadingcauses of morbidity.
Deaths, on the other hand, are mainly due to noncommunicable diseases, the eight leading causes of mortality being diseases of the heart, stroke, cancer, accidents, pneumonia, tuberculosis, diabetes mellitus and chronic lower respiratory diseases. The majority of these diseases are linked to common, preventable, lifestyle-related risk factors that include tobacco use, unhealthy diet and physical inactivity.
Cases of acute watery diarrhoea are widespread in all areas of the country, while acute bloody diarrhoea is common in selected regions, like the Cordillera Autonomous Region in the northern part of Luzon. Cholera showed a marked increase in 2005 and was common in the two Regions of Mindanao and the Ilocos Region in Luzon where the cholera outbreak of 2004 occurred. Leptospirosis continues to be constantly reported, the highest incidence being in agricultural areas of the country and in Metro Manila, where flooding is frequent. Outbreaks of viral encephalitis and meningococcemia are still sporadic in a few areas of the country. Rabies has a saw-tooth decreasing trend, though incidence has increased compared with 2004.
Where can you buy vegemeat in the Philippines?
I have bought and tried vegetarian meats in the following places:
Country Vegefoods,Inc. - 161 Luna Mencias St., San Juan. Tel. 7244379, 7170105. Bought the vegetarian meat and the ones in the can. Did not like it, it stayed in the pantry and the freezer until it expired.
Varona - 2008 Leveriza St., Pasay City. Tel. 5250389, 5367426. If you can cook well, you can make their vegetarian meat acceptable. Otherwise for the cuisine-challenged like me, it would just taste like tough fat.
Bodhi Vegetarian Restaurant - Madison Square-Wilson Ortigas Ave. cor. Madison St., Greenhills, San Juan Tel. 7232859. They have delicious vegetarian siopao and meats, albeit a bit expensive.
Daily Veggie Cafe - 540 Banawe cor. Calamba St. Quezon City. Tel. 711-8209, 711-3214. Cook their meats Chinese style.
Palomi - My favorite one. This is where I always get my vegetarian supplies. I like the "beef" steak and the "chicken" nuggets the most but everything else is delicious. They also carry vegetarian noodles, oyster sauce and other vegetarian ingredients if you are that strict. Prices are usually between P100-P200. They automatically give you a discount if you become a regular there. I don't know the exact address but it is on Quirino Avenue corner Mabini Street, right across a Petron gas station. It's a small nondescript grocery store. It's very easy to miss with the lack of signage and all, but very much worth finding.
For vegetarian recipes, I recommend getting the book Gulay: A Filipino Vegetarian Recipebook Series by Nona Lema.

What is the status of Dan Fogelberg's health today July 29 2007?
I, too would love to hear from Dan via his website (at the least) as to how he is doing! There are hundreds of well wishes posted daily by concerned fans. All thanking him for sharing his God-given talents with us and how his music has affected them through the years and how his music still continues to soothe and is enjoyed today, as his music never grows old!!! His public presence is sadly missed by his hundreds and thousands of die-hard fans who are still out here. I hear he is living in Maine with his lucky wife, Jean full-time with his beloved Mountain Bird Ranch for sale.
About 1 1/2 years ago , a friend saw him in an airport and she said he looked great (yes--she said she was sure it was him!) We can all only pray and hope that Dan continues to remain healthy and is enjoying his forced retirement-painting, shooting photography and sailing his wonderful sailboat.
A Dan Fogelberg fan Forever!!!!!!!
Ever On
