When originally played a small cannon was used for the loud percussion effects within the overture. Timpani have also been used to create the sound of the cannon fire.

The organ belongs to the keyboard family of musical insturments, but it is also a wind instrument as opposed to a piano. A piano uses hammers that strike large strings similar to guitar or bass strings to produce it's tones, while the organ involves allowing air through specific valves to produce it's sound.

You can't be going for a particular pitch, since that will vary. You must be going for tonic, or fundamental tone.

The piano is one of themost complicated instruments to learn. It takes years and years to learn (unless you are a prodigy!) and be able to play masterfully. Hours of practice and study in composers, songs, theory, technic, etc. Anyone who takes the time to learn and master this instrument has to be a very devoted and patient person.

There are 88 keys on the keyboard. Sixty-six of them have 3 strings. [66 x 3 = 198] The last 22 keys on the keyboard only have 2 strings each. [22 x 2 = 44] That means the piano has [198 + 44] 242 strings.

The piano sound is produced by your fingers striking a key, this activates a hammer which in turn strikes strings/wires tuned to different pitches. The loudness/softness comes from the strength behind the finger striking the keys. The piano has three strings for each pitch (except for those in the bass) and it is the vibration which makes the sound. these can be altered by using the pedals - the left sostenuto sustains the lower pitches while allowing the higher notes to dampen/stop sounding. Una corda (middle pedal) shifts the hammers so only one string is struck - less sound vibrating, a little softer perhaps, but less resonance. The damper pedal (right) allows all strings to vibrate until released, blurring the sounds together.

Right up front, I really have no idea. Because of its age its value will be in its style, finish and condition rather than as a musical instrument. Values vary quite a bit. Your piano technician can probably do some checking for you; you will have the serial number of the piano, and your technician knows very well the style and condition. I'd love to see a picture of it, but I don't think that is possible in this forum.

If a note is on a different partial (From F in 1st to G in 4th, from Bb in 1st to C in T1 or 6th) then you merely do a lip slur, which is "blowing through" the note and making a quick motion of the slide. If they are on the same partial (From G in 4th to A in 2nd) then you will want to tongue the note with a "Dah." The first note of a slurred or legato musical phrase should ALWAYS be tongued with a "Tah" and all subsequential notes should be "Dah." Make sure and have a continuous airflow. If you were to not tongue two notes that are on the same partial, you would result in a glissando.

There are basically 3 types of keyboards in music (even more in computers), which would be, piano, organ, and electric. Piano keys are connected to levers which operate little hammers that strike wires (of different lengths) inside the piano. Organ keys are connected to valves that release air into tubes (also of different lengths). Electronic keys operate pre-programed sound synthesis mechanisms.

The typical piano today has 88 keys. In Mozart's time some had fewer keys as the piano was really being developed overt that time period.

Pianos produce music using keys, those keys trigger hammers on arms within the body of the Piano. The hammer swings up, strikes a piano wire, and the vibration produces a tone. When you combine these tones by pressing various keys in planned methods, you produce music.

There are also pedals at the base of the piano which can be used to alter the sound made when the hammer strikes the metal piano wire.
