Why do you have gherkins in burgers?

Is pickle juice a natural blood thinner?

I think so. Pickles have a certain acid that can thin your blood out; but, dont take it too far, because it will only work if you have a pickle once every two days at the most. == First, the acid--the most common acid--in pickles is vinegar (acetic or ethanoic acid). This is the pickling agent. And, the most likely side affect of pickle consumption is increased sodium of glucose levels, depending on the form of pickles eaten. Second, technically, the only substance that "thins" blood is water, and that from excessive hydration. The "thinning" of blood you may be asking about is reduced clotting factor. There are few verifiable medical benefits to the use of vinegar, aside from vinegar tea used by diabetics to help control blood glucose levels, and the effect ingestion of vinegar has on cholesterol levels. The dangers outweigh the benefits. If you enjoy pickles, eat them. Just keep in mind that moderation is the key.

How do you deep fry pickles?

You will need:

Three or four large dill pickles

2 cups all purpose flour

Salt (to taste)

Pepper (if preferred)

Cayenne pepper

Buttermilk or egg wash

Two open top containers (I prefer pie plates for this)

Paper towels.

Place buttermilk (or egg wash) in one open top container. Reserve 1/2 cup flour. Place 1-1/2 cup flour in another open top container, add salt, pepper, and cayenne to taste, and mix.

  1. Heat about 1/2" oil in a pan to just below the smoking point (of the particular oil you are using--peanut or canola oil work best).
  2. While your oil is heating, slice your pickles, lengthwise or crosswise to your preference.
  3. Pat the pickle slices dry on a paper towel.
  4. Dust your pickle slices with all purpose flour.
  5. Dip the dusted slices in buttermilk or egg wash.
  6. Put the dipped slices immediately into your flour/coating mixture.
  7. Carefully set your breaded slices in your hot oil. Flip once and remove when golden.
  8. Drain fried pickles on paper towel or a wire rack.

Who created pickles?

In the US and Canada, when you say "the pickle", you are usually talking about a pickled cucumber.
