What age should you slaughter a pot belly pig for eating?

9 months of age is the ideal age for slaughtering, as this will allow the meat to remain tender and lean. The older that the animal gets the tougher that the meat will become, at 9 months of age the meat will have the ideal marbling ratio (meat to fat conversions). At this time you would receive approximately 30 lbs of meat.

Can a guine pig eat lettuce?

Babies nurse on their Mom, or are bottle fed formula for farm animals. They start eating piggy pellets and very small pieces of cut up vegetables and fruits at about two weeks of age. They should continue on Mother's milk or formula until 4-6 weeks of age.

They will eat meat, if you let them, but I would not. It's too high in proteins and fats for a 'healthy pet pig diet'. Plus, it costs a fortune.

What are Christians not allowed to eat?

There are no food prohibitions in Christianity, at least for non-Jews.

However, in New Testament times, most (if not all) Christian Jews maintained the Jewish food laws. Therefore, in order to avoid difficulties between Christian Jews and Christian non-Jews, non-Jews avoided meat strangled (leaving the blood in the body), and meat sacrificed to idols. This rule meant that Christian Jews and Christian non-Jews could share meals together without offending either party.

Another Answer:

From Genesis 7 forward, God makes mention of clean and 'unclean' animal flesh that is not good for mankind to eat. Noah apparently knew this so the dietary law is not just for physical Israel of the Old Testament.

We are to follow the dietary laws codified by Moses in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14. Jesus did not come to do away with these as many teach. One example of those using Scripture to support eating anything one desires is found in Mark 7. As with any other Scripture, it must be read in context and not taken out of it or ignored, resulting in many wrong interpretations of it.

In Mark 7:1-4 one reads of the reason for this discussion. The religious leaders of the time were upset with the disciples eating food without first doing the ceremonial cleansing requirements. Jesus goes on to explain that it is not dust or things on the hands that defiles a person - the digestive system can and will handle these impurities and eventually put them out of the body. Jesus was telling all that it is what one is thinking - from the heart - that defiles people.

Christ was more concerned about our thoughts and our actions, than a little bit of dirt that might be on your hands. So the point still stands. Leviticus chapter 11, Deuteronomy 14 maps out what we should eat. Jesus didn't change a thing as the Bible is full of examples of all Israel, the Apostles/disciples, and all members of the Church never once eating pork, shellfish, etc. that God finds abominable for food intake.

So when you look at what we should eat, follow what the Bible says. Follow what Jesus Christ Himself did - He is our perfect example. And follow God's dietary food laws.

Do pigs eat wheat?

You are correct. Your suspicions that lean towards pigs eating wheat plants are entirely correct. The facts of the matter are thus: pigs love to eat wheat plant. Denying this would make you an idiot. Studies conducted across several countries and continents have concluded that not only are pigs wheat-specific animals, but they are also wheat-happy animals. Basically, they love wheat. Adapt or die.

Is beer from pigs urine?

Yes, but it would take a LOT of beer to do it. Alcohol is a toxin; in excess, people die of alcohol poisoning every month. Depending on the mass of the pig, it would probably take quite a bit of alcohol to kill it. However, pigs like to wallow in mud, and just like drunk humans are known to pass out and fall, drunk pigs can do so as well. And if a drunken pig were to fall face-down into the sty, it's entirely possible that the pig could die of suffocation.

Do rice crispy treats have pork in them?

Sort of. If you buy Rice Crispy Treats in a box at the store, they're made with marshmallows, which contain gelatin. Gelatin is denatured animal protein, usually derived from pig skin, bone, and tendon (although it can also come from cattle or fish.) If you make the treats at home, you can substitute marshmallow fluff (which is usually made from egg whites instead of gelatin) or vegan marshmallows

Water is extremly important for guinea pigs!! One pig can easliy go through a regular sized water bottle per day! Remeber if you are NOT feeding your pig any fresh veggies (that contain vitimin C), then it should be added to their water! However; fresh is best-& feed veggies everyday! *Also-Guinea pigs are social animals, if you are NOT spending at least one hour a day of direct contact w/ exercise, you should probably get a companion pig for your original pig!
