What gcse's do you need to become a pilot?
What did American pilots get for shooting down a nazi pilot?
During WWII, if any pilot saw his buddies hanging in their parachutes being shot at by enemy aircraft, the chances are he will shoot down that enemy plane and kill the pilot hanging in his parachute in retribution. Since dogfight warfare was all about the numbers of shooting down aircraft, most pilots feel unconfortable about killing parachuting enemy pilots but that's not to say it didn't happen.
What instruments do pilots use?
Pilots will reference many instruments throughout their flight. Attitude indicators, speed, altimeters, vertical speed indicators, turn indicators, navigation displays, flight management systems and many engine instruments that display temperature, rpm, various pressures such as oil, manifold and hydraulic. The most important instrument is probably their fuel gauge.
How much is the salary for indigo airlines pilots?
The salary for pilots for Indigo Airlines will depend upon their experience. Most pilots will start out at close to $1,500 per month.
What are some famous Christian pilots?
What do you have to study to be a pilot?
To work as a pilot, the basic requirement is a Commerical Pilot License, which you can get at any local flight club.
If you want to get hired by an airline, however, you must build up a lot of experience and have many more qualifications.
A University/College diploma or degree is basically required by the major airlines, otherwise you don't have a chance of getting hired.
The typical progression is as follows:
Private Pilot License
Commercial Pilot License
Multi Engine Rating
Instrument Rating
THEN
Instructor Rating and Flight Instructor OR Bush Pilot OR Air Taxi
THEN
First Officer at a Regional Airline OR corporate, working your way up to captain
THEN
Major Airline OR Corporate
Are all navy pilots graduates of Annapolis?
No - there are a lot more Navy aircraft than there are Academy graduates. Though Annapolis graduates tend to get better assignments, any college graduate with the proper degree (typically aeronautical engineering) can be a Naval Aviator.
What is the official name for the pilot's steering wheel?
It all depends on the type of plane, commercial airliners have a yoke however most light aircraft and gliders have what is called a control stick.
So a yoke or a control stick depending on the aircraft.
How old do you have to be to obtain a pilot's license in Florida?
17 years old
- You need to be at least 17 years old to solo an airplane, and soloing an airplane is a prerequisite to a private pilot's license
What do commerial pilots need to learn?
A pilot should know if they are a pilot of a boat or of an airplane. One floats on the water, the other flies in the air.
What is the average hours for a private pilots license?
The minimum number of flight hours one needs to become a pilot is forty (40).
This is the bare minimum for earning the Private Pilot license, the first license in a series that goes up to Air Transport Pilot (ATP). There are, of course, specific requirements for flight hours in various categories (such as solo flight, night flight, simulated instrument flight, etc.) for the Private Pilot license. This is in addition to a passing score on a written examination, a satisfactory practical examination, and a satisfactory flight physical by a physician authorized by the FAA to perform physical exams for private pilots.
Why would someone work in a regional airline if they get paid too little?
Most regional pilots do the job to move up to the bigger airlines.
What is the cost of helicopter flight training?
Answer Around $70,000 USD from nothing to commercailly rated Pilot.
There are different cost of different flight training course packages. It depends which course you want to join.
Can the automatic pilot of today's commercial airliners be over-ridden by the human pilot?
There are several ways the autopilot can disconnect.
Before I go into this you need to know that every Pilots schedule is different, I do around 1-3 flights a week depending on the time of year, however some crews might do up to 5 countries a day ( but these would be short haul flights) where as mine are usually mundane 10 hour stretches of hell and boredum..
My basic schedule (although times will vary dramatically) is..
arrive at airport at about 6am and report to crew office and meet up with crew
At about 7am i'd be finding out latest weather information and studying out flightplan and arranging my charts.
At around 8am the first passengers are arriving at the airport and the crew are on the aircraft, At this point the first officer (poor guy) is walking around the aircraft in the freezing cold checking for any damage or cause for concern on the parts of the aircraft he can see and reach ( the walkaround inspection)- Which is utterly pointless on an aircraft this big as you can only see about 30% of it on the ground. While im sitting in the cockpit trying to think of a way to avoid talking to the mechanic about his latest round of golf and actually getting him to explain to me any work the aircraft's had done on it.
At this stage the First officer is back where he belongs in the right hand seat and is begging ATC for a decent departure slot for our flight While I Calculate our stats such as our V-Speeds and the parameters for the flight using usually wrong data from the fuel truck guy and the luggage ground crew.
After this is done the passengers are usually boarding and while Im getting our IFR and pre taxi clearence's from ATC the first officer is programming the flight management system with the beacons and NDB's that we'll be using for the flight and usually also sets the autopilot if I havnt already done that By 10am we should have departed..........9 Boring hours staring at clouds and trying to make out the figures on dirty LCD displays from the mechanics grubby fingers, At around 8 or 9 PM non local (zulu) time we touch down and the aircraft is de-boarding while myself and the first officer discuss anything from in flight experience's to football teams to stop ourselfs from falling asleep. Around 20 mins after all the passengers are off the aircraft and the cabin crew have dealed with the mess the passengers leave behind the APU is turned off and the power to the aircraft cut shortly before we leave it at the gate for the American mechanics to fiddle with (break). We are picked up by the late bus and taken to our hotel where we say goodnight to each other....eat a pot noodle and immediatly collapse onto the bed and instantly fall asleep.
The whole day is repeated again the next day until I get home to my paranoid wife and where I usually receive 2 days off before repeating the process again and again.....people say....oh Gee that looks like an amazing lifestyle.......trust me....its stressfull.....tiring.....puts stress on the familly and freinds. But for some reason....I love it.
Which pays better - Airline pilot or Cargo pilot and why?
They should both pay the same on average, the difference comes with the different types or sizes of the aircraft that one may be flying, the bigger and newer aircraft will produce the higher wages as the pilots with the most amount of experience (flying hours, hence the logbook) will be the pilot in command, but on the other hand allot of pilots are in unions today and there may be instances where because of the industries slowdown some high time pilots are accepting lower wages to stay employed where they are at rather then looking for higher paying jobs
A typical cargo pilot makes just over minimum for piloting fairly old planes across fairly short distances. These pilots do so in the worst possible weather and in aircraft that is less then perfect. They often have no auto pilots, flight directors and minimal instruments Pilots take on these jobs to gain experience and to get enough hours in to fly for scheduled airliners.
Some move on to better jobs flying bigger tin for companies like FedEx or UPS, but most fly some very questionable craft.
Airline transport pilots start out at similarly low wages working for the commuter airlines of larger companies. Mesaba is one that pays very low and demands high standards. Again, the purpose is to gain experience.
Airline transport pilots that work for the majors make extremely good money, work awesome schedules and fly really nice equipment. They are the top end of the profession and make pay accordingly.
