You are not qualified nor do you have the proper testing devices. Most likely your electronic heater has failed. You apply the solar pool cover either very early in the morning, or the night before you want to go swimming in the pool. Keep in mind, that if the sun hits it for long periods of time, it will make the pool water extremely hot, so make sure that it is in a partially shaded area if you are going to put it on the day before, and if the sun is always on it, then put it on the morning before you go swimming.

This happened to me. There was actually more dirt going into the pool when the pump was running. The problem: There were small tears in the filters and they had to be replaced. No problem since. By the nature of your question it sounds like you have a sand filter not a D E filter. Extend the run time on the pump so that the filter can do it's job 24/7. Maintain high chlorine residual, adjust pH. Once the pool has cleared greatly you then can cut back on the run time - to say 8 to 12 hrs. per day which wold be a normal run time to maintain quality water. I'll bet that you are only running the pump 2 to 3 hrs. per day thus the lack of the ability for the filter to do it's job.

A boiling pot of water will boil faster if you stir it. I would expect it creates more surface area for heat exchange to occur, resulting evaporation. A pool should act the same.

As the water begins to flow within the system, the components inside the heater compartment ( the pressure switch)senses that flow and if your heater is calling for heat it will fire. When that water ceases to flow those same sensors tell the heater to stop firing. Built in safety devices.

The solar cover helps keep the chlorine in during the day under direct sun if in place; the green is probably due to bacteria rather than the the cover holding heat; scrub pool bottom and sides, add chlorine shock at 1 lb per 10000 gallons and run filter for 24 hours.

Darker. Dark colors absorb heat, light colors reflect. I was told our black bottom pool would keep our pool 10 degrees warmer. Not sure if that is true, as I have no basis for comparison, but that's what I was told by our pool builder and other pool experts. You probably can not achieve higher temps in the pool by using your hot water heater. By the time it takes your water heater to recover your pool will have reverted to that lower temp. Not possible nor economic. A solar bubble blanket would work more efficiently possibly bringing the pool temp up 10 15 degrees. However, you may loose most or all of that during the evening hours. That too will depend on the underground temps. If you are attempting to heat an above ground pool temp loss thru the walls of the pool could be significant. A bubble cover is not designed to retain heat but - it will retard evaporation. Bubble covers transfer the suns rays to heat by heating the air in the bubbles.

If you are using a heat pump then you want to heat during the warmest part of the day. So I run my water pump maybe 9 am to 5pm. Then the heater will cycle on and off during that time. If a heat pump has 100,000 BTUs when it is 80 degrees outside that might fall to 80,000 BTU's when it is 50 degrees outside. Now some people get a 40 or 50% break on their power at night. Then I would run the heat pump at night as the savings in power makes it worth the reduced BTU's. If you have a gas or oil heater it really doesn't matter as they both heat the same day ot night. If you have a 400,000 BTU gas heater you really are putting about 330,000 BTU's in the water as the rest goes up the exhaust. That will be the same day or night. A blanket on the water will help keep in the heat though and might cut your heating bills over 50%.
