Is taking a pregnancy test a week after you missed your period still accurate?
There are early pregnancy tests that can detect as early as 6 DPO (days past ovulation), but most store bought tests can only detect as early as 5 days before your expected period.
A pregnancy can not be ruled out until after the period is missed. A negative pregnancy test before then, is not a guarantee that you aren't pregnant. Are pregnancy test always correct?
Blood tests are actually more accurate in recent times. However, mistakes are made. If there is any question regarding a blood test, it would be best to have a retest. If the results are the same as the first test, it is almost a certainty that the results are accurate.
If you are 42 days late, but a home test is still showing negative - and I assume the test has been taken at least twice - then it might be appropriate to consult with your doctor, but wait till day 44 (one month past last period plus two weeks) and test again.
Of course, if you are of an age where menopause is likely, this may not be a concern. But if not, then you should see your doctor.
While there are a number of varying statistics on the subject, most studies put the failure rate for tubal ligations at less than one half of one percent. So, while there's a statistical possibility that you could be pregnant, it's very unlikely. There are lots of things that could cause you to be late, so relax and give it a little time and if you develop any specific symptoms other than being a little late, go see a doctor. Good luck.
if the urine test is negative, then you are feeling gas movement. add fiber to you diet and drink 2 liters of water daily and the sensations should stop good luck joymaker rn
Are teen pregnancy rates up or down?
The most recent results show that they are down(due to more use of long term birth control like depo-provera (the shot) and IUDs) but that condom use is now going down The 2005 national YRBS shows a small decline in condom use by young women and a more sizeable increase in non use. The change in condom use is not significant but its looks like the change in nonuse and in the weighted average contraceptive failure are. I would stress that these numbers are not published. The decrease in condom use is most likely due to 7 years under Republican domination. Republicans have not increased family planning funds to make up for inflation and they have spent $1.5 billion of our taxpayer $$$ on "abstinence-only" which is NOT allowed to talk about birth control EXCEPT in its failure and these programs have also lied to kids about things e.g. "you can get AIDS from skin to skin contact" and made sexist comments like "girls who wear tank tops, should be afraid of being raped because guys can't control themselves" The US does NOT have any funding for "abstinence plus" which means pushing abstinence PLUS teaching about contraception. Abstinence plus has been shown to work, whereas abstinence-only results in people NOT using condoms the first time they have sex.
If you have had unprotected sex after your blood test, you could be pregnant.
A blood test is able to pick up hormonal changes two weeks into a pregnancy. If you were at least two weeks pregnant when the blood test was done, it should be considered the last word.
Woman in their late teens and early twenties are known to have irregular cycles. A cycle can be thrown off by stress, diet, increases in exercise, or even just by worrying if you are pregnant. So doctors have a tendency not to get as excited as you do, by a missed cycle.
If you are religiously using birth control, try to stop stressing and relax. If you have still not had a period when your your next cycle is due, see your doctor or clinic for a check up. While one missed or late cycle is nothing to be concerned by, three missed periods should be looked into.

HIV tests are widely sold in an at-home form at many drug stores in the United States. Performing HIV tests at home offers anonymity and convenience to clients who may not otherwise go to a public clinic location. These tests are relatively easy to perform on yourself and your results can be retrieved by phone. A unique number is provided to retreive the results and the testing doesnt require a name to be submitted and processed.
The accuracy of the test is dependent on the person's ability to follow the specific instructions provided in the kit. It is very important that each direction be followed in correct order and that specimens are shipped immediately. The accuracy of the testing will be less than the tests used in a clinic location or HIV testing site.
Rapid response HIV testing is widely available in the U.S. Oral HIV testing is very accurate and most HIV testing locations offer results in as little as 20 minutes.
Getting tested at a free clinic location also saves you the cost of the test (around $50.00) and staff to administer the test correct, answer your questions, and help you better understand your test results.
Will dogs mating always result in pregnancy?
Good question! If they do, they can get bad infections and even die.
Can you get negative pregnancy test results and normal periods when you're pregnant?
Yes I was a month pregnant with my second child...I had a period that lasted 7 days. It was however, lighter than normal. So I went to the doctors who did a pregnancy test, which came up negative even though I was a month pregnant. It was the following period that I missed.
What do the instructions say? It is possible you are pregnant and you did the tests too early or with a specimen of weak urine. Wait another couple of days and do the test with the first urine you pass in the morning. Possibly, but you really should go to a doctor to verify
When can you know if you are pregnant?
A couple of symptoms you could possibly notice in early pregnancy are: * missed menstrual period * nausea, with or without vomiting * fatigue * breast changes and breast tenderness * frequent urination If you have missed your period, then I suggest you see your family physician. Symptoms are not really noticable until around the 5th week of conception, but your first big hint would be of course a missed period. More opinions from FAQ Farmers: * There are several possible indicators that you are pg, but these can also be pre-menstruel symptoms too. If you have been stressed then that is another reason you have missed your period. Its not always that if you missed your period your pg because your proably not. * My 1st signs were at 4 weeks pregnant dizziness & nausea When your stomach is all huge and it's not because of junk food and no exercise! check with your doctor when you feel pushing, because it's probably the baby!!
Would a week after having unprotected sex be too early to take a pregnancy test?
Buy a two pack test. I always buy a store brand. They are much cheaper and work just as well. Take one test now. If you get negative or confusing results, take another a day or two after you are supposed to start your period. Then you should get a correct answer. It may be too early. It depends on the test and how much of the pregnancy hormone you are producing right now.
What does one faint blue line and a dark line mean on a clear blue pregnancy test?
If you see two lines, regardless of how light or dark, it means there are hormones in your body that are present during pregnancy. It's very unlikely to have false positives with pregnancy tests, but if you think it's wrong, you should probably make an appt with your doctor as they can give you a more accurate answer. Otherwise, congratulations on your pregnancy!
Is 20 days after sex too early to take a pregnancy test?
no
I think it can be detected by then but if you want to really make sure wait until your first missed period>
Wear comfortable shoes. Fashionable women's shoes are typically very uncomfortable; they have high heels, pointy toes, and thin soles, all of which contribute to discomfort. A pregnant woman, carrying extra weight, should not have to wear uncomfortable shoes. But really, no one should have to wear uncomfortable shoes, pregnant or otherwise.
How early will a transvaginal ultrasound detect pregnancy?
Home Tests - Urine
Pregnancy can be discovered very early on with some of the new pregnancy tests. Some home tests can detect a pregnancy within days of conception however the further into the pregnancy the more accurate the test. The accuracy of the test relies heavily on detection of the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG)and the amount that is released. This hormone is not released until implantation of the blastocyst in the uterine wall which usually occurs around day 6-12, still the amount of hCG may be too weak to detect at this stage but not impossible. False negatives are very common at this stage (prior to a missed menstruation) therefore it is suggested that if you test negative to test again in another week or two. A positive result at this point is rarely false.
Laboratory Tests
Detection of pregnancy can occur within 48 hours of conception using more complicated testing methods, usually performed at a laboratory. These tests are generally considered cost prohibitive.
Why would a doctor want to talk to you about your blood tests?
Probably there is some problem with your results.
Can you still be pregnant if your period is 17 days late but your HPT is negative?
It's possible that your cycle is off and you ovulated late and could be pregnant, it's more likely that your period is delayed due to stress or other physical reasons. If your period doesn't start soon and you still have a negative hpt then I would call your doctor to discuss options.

Although, most of the time, a quantative result below 5 HCG normally means that you are not pregnant, it is possible to be pregnant with a HCG of 1 during the first week or two. Over the counter pregnancy tests only detect HCG levels above 5. This has been learned from experience as I was told by my doctor that there is no way that I could be pregnant with an HCG of 1 when I thought I was 2 weeks pregnant on June 16th. Evidentally that is not always the case because I received a vaginal sonogram on August 4th that showed a 10 week pregnancy. Thus I would have been about 2 weeks pregnant on June 16th. I would be careful about taking the doctors word, trust your intuition. I have an intuition that said "I am pregnant and I don't care what any sonogram or blood test say" and yet still trusted the doctor and kept donating plasma until the pregnancy was confirmed on August 4th. Should have trusted my gut. By the way, although my HCG was 1 at 2 weeks my baby is healthy.-Dianna
