If you are "under the advice and monitoring by a Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist" then perhaps you should ask one of THEM rather than looking for random advice from strangers on the Internet. Withdrawal from Prozac has long been known to be a dangerous time. The general recommendation has been to slowly diminish the dosage levels. I'm quite surprised that any physician of any specialty would suggest sudden cessation of the medication. I'm especially surprised that a psychiatrist would suggest such a thing. I, too, am wondering about the medical advice you are getting and why you'd be posting on here and asking others if you are, in fact, really getting actual medical care. NO doctor would just STOP you from taking Prozac. You would be tapered off of it (or any anti-depressant) gradually. Also, when being "monitored" by a physician, they usually instruct you to contact them IMMEDIATELY if you are having ANY severe symptoms -- physical OR mental. You're asking what you should do since you're having suicidal thoughts? You need to contact your doctor! IMMEDIATELY! You really shouldn't quit cold turkey but I have twice before. I shook every morning and felt like life wasnt worth living anymore (quitting other bi-polar drugs cold turkey is ALOT worse so this too shall pass! I recommend t.v. reading, wine(or at least cranberry juice) and THC if you do that will also help. I would definitely call your Doctor (if u can call him that) and tell him your Uncle or someone in your family is in the medical field and they would never even think of ceasing meds such as these but rather gradually reducing your dosage. I would take St. Johns Wort till u feel a little better if your doc will not do what is right. Good Luck - this feeling WILL pass!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

It should be fine. Wellbutrin is commonly combined with ssri's like Prozac to augment them in the case of treatment resistant depression, and depakote xanax and klonopin all affect a different neurotransmitter system. I was on wellbutrin 300 mg, lexapro (an ssri) 10 mg and depakote at one point and was fine. Check with your doctor and check in a drug interaction checker like on webmd. But it seems redunant and possibley dangerous combining xanax and klonopin as they are both in the same drug class and depakote effects the same neurotransmitter system, GABA, as xanax and klonopin. Especially at the 1000mg dose it doesn't seem like the xanax and klonopin are needed. Too much GABA activity can cause brain damage and lower your blood pressure to dangerous lows possibley causing death. Again check with your doctor.

The official answer is: Medications should be discarded one year after they are dispensed or when indicated by the pharmacy label. This is for several reasons. I will list two:

1.The prescription that the physician originally wrote is good for one year. If you haven't seen the physician for reevaluation and a new prescription, you are technically taking a prescribed drug without a legal prescription. Because this could be harmful to your health it is illegal.

2. The medication may have been compromised during the year, not only potentially losing its potency, but perhaps going through chemical changes that could cause the user physical, sometimes irreversible, harm.

The real answer to your question is: it depends.

IF the medication is marked with an expiration date (as in blister pack, sample, or manufacturer dispensed) AND that date has not passed AND the user can personally guarantee has been stored in the recommended manner, one could reasonably assume it was safe to take.

If that user has not been reevaluated by a physician-is not completely sure of the storage conditions-has had other medical, digestive or psychological changes-has a bulk type bottle dispensed from the pharmacy-or ANY other doubts, do NOT use that medication.

If the medication costs less than a liver transplant, its not worth it to try.

Medicines are manufactured so as not to lose their potency for at least one year after the use-by date, so you're about 100% safe if it's not a fake and was purchased from a pharmacy in your country, not bought over the internet of course.

I dont see why there would be a problem since there is only a once or twice dose of xanax, but it very addictive so be carefull. One .05 tablet should be good if you never use xanax. Then one for the return flight. I dont think 1mg is appropriate if you dont have a tolorance.

If taking these two medications makes you paranoid, then you need to communicate that to your doctor so an alternate solution can be reached.

You should be open with your doctor about side effects you are having. It could simply be that the meds are new and your body is getting used to them. If it persists after a month or two, you should see your doctor again. It could just be that your dosage is too high.

I'm allegedly supposed to be on adderall but since i have no way to pay for medicine a friend of mine would just give me hers, and I'm also "supposed to be on Prozac" as well. and that same friend just happened to be just like me but with insurance!!! well i started taking the adderall xr30 mg (small world huh) and it worked pretty great, my mind wouldn't wander off in class as much and i still had the energy to focus on the b.s. that the American public education system crams down your throat. Then I started taking the Prozac as well, and The mix was the best thing ever, i felt as if i were in a great mood but not a false euphoria like from drugs, funny thing is they're both drugs..LAugh! well any way 3 months into it she stopped getting her meds and i was okay with that. little did I know my body had become used to being full of these drugs and i had an 8 hour panic attack known as akathisia...Impending sense of doom, you can't sit still and you think you're going to die..also the sensation of tiny needles poking you from the inside and out...now don't worry about this with the adderall just worry about it with the Prozac..as most ssrid drugs are known for this suicidal side affect!! but you have a doctor so you shouldn't have to worry about not getting your meds...............!!!!!!! OH and i also don't agree with ssri drugs at not since then...I've also melted most the serotonin out of my brain due to excessive crystal meth and ecstacy use (had to stop,it's bad for you)...so i hope you're way smarter than i am and don't partake in those things..OR atleast can handle depression like a soldier!

Not going to edit the above answer, but I will say this is not the main reason to avoid this combination. Both these medications directly and indirectly affect your heart. Taking them together can result in heart attack. Not many general doctors are aware of or appreciate this fact. Mostly because it is not deadly for everyone. However, the best two options are to either (1) completely stop taking adderall--Prozac can actually help with ADHD symptoms alone and although is not as affective, you will not need the medication as much or (2) at least fall back to a much lower dose. 30 mg is very high. You probably experience anxiety a lot and this is partially induced by the drug. You're anxiety (which can be part of depression) will improve on a lower dose (or off!)

There are no known dangers as of yet with taking PROZAC(brand name) [Fluoxetine hydrochloride- generic name] and DEPAKOTE(brand name) [Divalproex sodium-generic name] at the same time. I think that it's better to take capsules rather than syrup with Prozac. The DM and alcohal in cough suppresants causes a high when combined with many anti-depressants, including Prozac. Be careful mixing the two.
