Why would a psychiatrist prescribe lithium with Prozac if a person is not diagnosed bipolar?
Answer
Bipolar disorder is the new "A.D.D." This means that a lot of psychiatrists are randomly prescribing medication to help this disorder even if the patient has little to no signs of the disorder. What's done most often, is the doctor will give you some meds, ask for any effects they may have had on you, then judge whether they are suitable for you or not. Don't be surprised if they don't help though, their are a lot of cases where the meds haven't done a single thing for anyone.
Answer
While it's true that diagnosing clients with bipolar disorder appears to be in vogue at the moment, I disagree with the assertion that "a lot of psychiatrists are randomly prescribing medication..."
Psychiatrists try to determine in a short amount of time what sort of illness a person has, then prescribe medication known to be effective for other people with similar problems. But everyone is unique. What helps one person may do nothing for another, so managing mental illness is usually a matter of trial and error, attempting to find the right meds, or combination of meds, for each individual. Unfortunately, this is rarely a fast process.
Lithium is sometimes used to increase the effect of an antidepressant when antidepressants alone haven't lifted a person's depression enough. Lithium activates the presynaptic serotonergic system, which is a fancy way of saying it stimulates production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter thought to be reduced or less active in depressed people.
Adding lithium to Prozac is just one of many treatment possibilities for depression. Be sure to tell your doctor whether the combination is helping. And don't be afraid to ask questions.
Can you mix Prozac Xanax and marijuana?
You're free to mix anything you want to mix, any time you want to mix it.
But that doesn't necessarily mean that it would never be a foolish thing to do,
or that it would never hurt you, make you sick, or kill you.
First, be patient. Many antidepressants take 4-6 six to show signs of improvement while newer generation antidepressants such as Lexapro can show signs of improvement as early as one week. Sometimes antidepressants are working but the effects are subtle. Keep a daily journal of your mood and depressive thoughts (such as thoughts of suicide) to track your progress. If you do not show signs of improvement then talk to your doctor about switching to a different one. The process of finding an effective antidepressant and the effective dose of that antidepressant is sometimes so long and laborious that it is easy to lose track of signs of worsening or improvement. A combination of therapy and antidepressants will be the most effective.
Can Klonopin and Prozac be taken 2gether?
I've been taking 80mg of Prozac and 300mg of Wellbutrin daily for two months. Four days ago I added .5mg of Klonopin twice daily. Thus far, I haven't noticed any side effects at all. The Klonopin seems to have kicked in quickly and filled the gap on handling my anxiety (which is why it was prescribed).
My feeling is that stabilizing on a medication before adding others into the regimen helps you find your balance. Starting on more than one medication at a time can make it confusing in sorting out how your moods / stability are being affected, and what is actually working.
If anything changes, I will update this.
Good Health,

Is mixing weed and Adderall and alcohol okay?
Nothing bad. I do not know of a single drug or medication that is dangerous to take with marijuana. Marijauna is neither a stimulant nor a depressant; it is a mild hallucinogen, and so it does not affect the heart or central nervous system the way most other drugs do.
Can you take Prozac and adderall together?
Prozac and Adderall will most likely have few interactive side-effects. Prozac is an SSRI, and acts to allow the brain more time to pick up and consume serotonin, the chemical believed to be responsible for regulation of emotion and a variety of other functions. There is a different TYPE of anti-depressant used less frequently known as an MAOI which acts in a very different way, and an MAOI is a known contraindication of Adderall patients, but Prozac is not. Adderall, which is a mixture of Levo and Dextro-amphetamine salts, acts primarily by increasing levels of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. Adderall doesincrease extracellular levels of serotonin in the brain, although the brain acts to maintain balance (homeostasis) and modifies chemical levels based on other factors. In closing, Prozac and Adderall (both XR and other racemic mixtures of Levo+Dextroamphetamine) should and historically have not had any notable interactions.
Can you take provigil with fluoxetine?
Firstly, a few questions because to be safe you need to think about this abit more.
Why do you want to take the 2 together? Provigil (generic:Modafinil) can be anxiolytic, is this why you're taking it with an antidepressant? or is it for recreational purposes? (if you are I'd get something better)
Anyways, your answer.
Yes. They both work on Neurotransmitter (NT) systems, but since they work on different systems there's no reason why you can't take them together. Although, as a Pharmacologist, I dislike recommending cocktails. NT's are complex things, and there interactions aren't to be underestimated.
SSRI's take 2+ weeks to take effect (I assume you're taking them at the moment, and Provigil will be started soon) Provigil is a few days. So if you start feeling side effect or showing counter indications, stop taking the Provigil.
As with everything in pharmacology, doasage is the key. Be careful, act sensibly, and if you're in doubt go to a doctor.

Can Lamictal Prozac or lisinopril cause a false-positive screening for benzodiazepines?
No; absolutely not. Every single one of those medications listed are not only members of different chemical classes, but COMPLETELY structurally unrelated. Their metabolites will never be similar.
That said, Lisinopril is not even metabolized by the body. It is excreted through the urine completely unchanged.
It's still safe to list all current prescriptions prior to screenings and provide Rx numbers to avoid confusion. If you don't have a valid prescription for Benzodiazepines, I would recommend getting one through a pysch or a sympathetic internal medicine doctor. Get a small amount. It's too tempting to take more than prescribed and withdrawl is awful. But at least that way you have a valid prescription for a controlled drug.
How much Prozac will cause an over dose?
As someone who has tried to overdose on a mixture or prozac and ibroprofen and then drank heavily, it is more than 35 pills of Prozac & 6 ibroprufen to even do anything more than make you have bad stomach ache, plus the alcohol all it results in is a collapse and hospitalization. In my case I was prescribed Prozac for suicidal tendencies and my doctors informed me that I could not kill myself on it (although I tried). It can cause substantial damage, and I was lucky as I was young my body rebounded, if you are considering this you should go and see your doctor and get referred to a therapist. There was never a risk of death in my case aside from choking on my vomit.
Can I take Xanax Prozac and Chantix together?
I would advise that you not do it until you talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Chantix is known to have some serious side effects, and before you take it, tell your doctor or pharmacist about other medications you take-- these medications could interact negatively with the Chantix and cause problems for you.
A psychotropic has the ability to modify mental activity at body's natural chemicals. Prozac is used as anti-depressant.
How long do the withdrawal symptoms from getting off Prozac last?
I stopped taking 40mg about a week ago and have a lingering headache and nausea ---- *i started not taking mine either and now i have dry mouth and head achs ---- *stopping abruptly after 8 years I'm now finding myself "loosing it" over the most trivial matters with family members. I want to escape my home, and I want people to leave me alone. I was never like this before. I was a mild mannered loving person and now everyone's walking on eggshells around me. Will this pass?

I read some recommendations about when it`s the perfect moment to take it and they say in the morning. If you can swallow the entire pill with a glass of water it`s perfect.
You must know that sometimes, Prozac cause drowsiness and then, it`s better to take before going to sleep.
Please be careful at the side effects!
What are the side affects of snorting Prozac?
1. Your nose burns for about an hour
2. It feels as if your throat is swollen
3. You'll spend at least a day constantly blowing your nose
- Overall, there are little to no effects from snorting citalopram. You may feel a bit more mellow, but that is about it. I would not recommend it.
Does Prozac treat bipolar disorder?
If you are bipolar, taking any antidepressant medication by itself without a mood stabilizer (like lithium, depakote, or lamictal) can swing you up into a manic episode. Antidepressants increase the levels of seratonin in the brain, and if you don't have a "lid" on the brain chemistry with those mood stabilizing drugs, you can indeed have a "high" swing. It's not just Prozac!
No. Quote from the Related Link: "Do not suddenly stop taking Prozac without checking with your doctor. Side effects may occur. They may include mental or mood changes, numbness or tingling of the skin, dizziness, confusion, headache, trouble sleeping, or unusual tiredness. You will be closely monitored when you start Prozac and whenever a change in dose is made." If you want to stop taking it, you need to TAPER the dosage down, in other words, take a bit less at a time, with a doctor's help.
Prozac is intended to treat depression, but is also used to relieve hot flashes, therefore it is not suppose to cause what it is intended to treat. That being said, it is not likely.

When pills expire, all that happens is they start to lose their effectiveness slowly. There is no danger in taking expired pills, they could possibly just not work as well. It usually takes years after expiration for pills to lose significant effectiveness though.
How deep should a navel piercing be?
It varies from person to person, however, most of them that I have seen are about one eighth to three sixteenths inch deep. Some have been a quarter or more, but I think that would be a bit of overkill. Your piercer (if at all reputable) will be able to place it perfectly for your body. Too deep a piercing and you run a higher risk of infection and ultimately rejection and too shallow and the skin simply will not hold the piercing. It has to be just right or things will go wrong. Also, if you're asking this question in prepartion for a DIY piercing I must tell you that it is not at all recommended and you need to see a professional.
