Is distilled water good for car radiators?

Distilled water IS good for radiators. In fact, manufacturers recommend using nothing but distilled water to mix with antifreeze. Tap water contains minerals, which can promote corrosion. So tap water should be used in a cooling system only in case of an emergency.

How do you hook a toggle switch to a 03 cavalier fan radiator?

I just got finished doing this. There should be 3 prongs on the switch. The way I did it you need to run 4 wires, 3 to the toggle switch, one from the ground of the fan, to the ground wire of the battery. After that you need to ground the switch(there will be an etching/sticker that tells you which is which on the switch). Run a wire from positive from the battery to the switch. Make sure you install an inline fuse, 25 amps should be good. After that run another positive from the remaining prong, to the fan, and things should starts spinning and blowing air. Good luck.

How do you tell if your radiator is clogged?

some cooling systems, you can check by removing the radiator cap when the water is cool. Then crank the vehicle and let it run until it reaches operating temp. If the water reaches or exceeds operating temp with no flow seen inside of the radiator, it could possible mean that your cooling system is clogged. Also a good indication is if there is rust deposits around the filler neck on the radiator.

No, but some autos use the radiator to cool transmission fluid.

It circulates within its own plumbing, and the fluids never commingle.

Steam is coming from the left-hand side of the radiator when running fan does kick on and it stops Does my radiator have a leak?

It may NOT be a leaky radiator.

However, you may wish to check your upper and lower radiator hoses and tighten all of the fittings (if necessary), and also trace the hoses all the way down to where they meet the engine.

Be on the look-out for dry-rot and be looking for spots that might be bulging out. The bulging spots could indicate that the hose is ready to burst.

It is best to conduct this inspection while the vehicle IS running and HAS BEEN running for a few minutes so that it is warmed up.

BE SURE to be VERY careful because radiator hoses are HOT, and engine compartments are intentionally small.

P.s: IF you can identify to the location and actually SEE the steam coming directly from your radiator, then yes, you DO have leak in your radiator.

Why radiator called radiator?

A radiator is named for its function of radiating heat. It works by transferring thermal energy from hot coolant in a vehicle's engine to the surrounding air, effectively "radiating" heat to cool down the engine.

If the hose is leaking will it cause it not to run?

Having a leak in a radiator hose will have no effect on the engine running or not. However, in time the hose leak will cause the level of the coolant in the radiator to drop below a critical level and the engine will overheat.
